Ringo Starr
Saw Ringo Starr on one of those morning shows this past Friday. Apparently he's on tour! He seems to be a very nice guy, but, well, really, somewhat, uh, goofy. And, he really, REALLY can't sing! So, I wonder, if being a former "Beatle" is enough to automatically make someone "star quality" cool? Or is it that he's made enough money to put together a band, go on tour, and be a lead singer who can't sing? I've got the money, I've got the name, I get to sing! I don't intend to be so harsh, but "goofy Beatle" is such an oxymoron!
His personal website:
http://www.ringostarr.com/
So, am I being too harsh or is he a "goofy Beatle"? However, I do get the impression that he's really a nice person. Perhaps a little narcistic, but, then so am I (but, at least, I know I can't sing!). He does get extra credit for using QuickTime on his site!

Re: Ringo Starr
Doesn't he sing "You're 16?" you're 16, you're beautiful, and you're mine.
I thought that was a good song.

He sang Octopus' Garden, and that's a cool tune.

Re: Ringo Starr
Well, he's got the star power, and plenty of baby boomer fans who want one last taste of the Beatles. The tour will be successful.

Re: Ringo Starr
Not "goofy" Beatle, but "funny" Beatle. Get it right.
Of course, all of the Beatles were smart, cute, serious and funny in their own ways. I always thought those labels were too restrictive. Where's the "talented" Beatle, or the "strong" Beatle?
Sure, Ringo is getting long in the tooth, but if people can take some pleasure in his performance, who are we to cast aspersions? Don't be so negative. Someday kids will mock us for going to a Staind or RHCP concert when we're 60-ish.
Hey!!! Was that Pithy? Got a twenty?

There are enough fans to make anything Beatles-related successful.

i just got 2 free tix to see ringo on friday at my hometown theater.... anyone in the chicago/milwaukee area want them? for free? i also have tickets for that same night to see the easy star allstars performing "dub side of the moon" start to finish (reggae musicians performing a whole pink floyd album- a stoners dream!), which beats ringo hands down.

He was on The Daily Show on Monday to pimp his CD. Very relaxed....I was thinking, man, this guy can just do whatever he wants. As a surviving Beatle, people practically slammi as he walks by.
Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.

Re: Ringo Starr
seen that show too. Ringo does not take it seriously in the way that Sir Paul does. So he can put together a band and have a little fun and entertain. People will pay good cash for that ya know!
... at least, thats my humble opinion. I have a lot of respect for the Beatles. I think they are the protype and everybody else in Rock since plays it out in some Roshomon way or another.

Replace with "salaam" (meaning a deep bow), I think.

Oh, come on. The lunchmeat interpretation is much more interesting. Just imagine how weird it would be to just have random people walk up to you exclaming "I love your work, have a liverwurst!" "You're the best Beatle drummer ever, I must give you this genoa!"
