Jeh, in a twisted turn of events, I salute you.

Holy cow. The year is weird.

Re: Banned: Jehannum

Since MacAddict Forums is now short 1 moderator, I nominate myself to the new position.

Moderators are obviously chosen for good behavior and not computer/technology knowledge.  MAF needs a moderator that knows about IT (me).

Besides, Kirk and the rest of the moderators owe this to me after silencing me for speaking the truth.  I said that IBM made inferior CPUs and that the G5 was overrated.  Members flamed me, MacAddict staff banned me.

I've been saying since the beginning that the PowerPC's lagged well behind the AMD and Intel Processors.  That it took 2 G5's to equal 1 AMD 64-FX, and that G4's were not near as efficient as the Pentium M's.  For that, I was insulted, flamed then banned.

Jobs said Apple was disappointed with IBM's inability to deliver faster versions of its PowerPC chips or low-power models for notebooks. - Wired

Now that Jobs basically stated what I had said many months ago, it's obvious I proved my knowledge and behavior above most of the moderators here.     tongue

I, also, am throwing my hat into the ring to be a moderator. I'd list my qualifications for being one, but I'd hate to embarrass the other mods with my obvious superiority.

It's so awesome that if you ask to be a moderator, you won't get it. I always thought it was a stupid policy, but now... now I love it.

Re: Banned: Jehannum

Having been a moderator on a forum with several thousand active users, I know exactly how embarassing it is when your private laundry gets aired publically.

Someone managed to subvert the AdminCP on the forum, and esentially made everyone a moderator, while locking out the moderators from any ability to fix it.  Since the server belongs to the company, and was headquartered in Prague, it was pretty interesting to try to get ahold of the owners by telephone at 11pm pst!

I say ban em all!  Mods have to put up with a lot of crap and dont deserve the embarassment and loss of trust that happens when their private ruminations are made public.   I know Jeh has been surly of late, but it is shocking to see him open this particular can of worms.  Sad. sad

It really is a rule that if you ask to be a mod, you can't be one.  Donovan wasn't making that up.

As for the vacancy, Chris Fom and I both stepped up and we're co-modding the Rant Room.

This little incident should be a lesson to you that you seriously need to change your rules for selecting moderators.

Half the moderators here have never touched a compiler or opened up a PC case in their life.   Their idea of a PC is a Dell running XP Home with an entry P4.

You guys put way too much emphasis on post count and behavior as priorities in moderators.  Granted, behavior matters, but that is still seriously lacking in a lot of the moderators as shown in this instance, and my instance.

And where the hell is my apology?

Weren't you also one of the ones that flamed me for my comments on the G5?  You probably voted for my temporary banning too.  Well, who's laughing now, eh?  lol

Why do moderators need to know everything about computers? That's left to the debaters.

Wait, are you arguing that we should base our moderator selections on compiler and PC usage? Ironically enough, Jehannum was one of the most pro-pc guys, with a lot of programming experience. Yes, you're criteria seem fantastic.
