Oh man, why would someone want to wear an iPod in central park, where all of the Gangs and what not hang out. Not very smart stupid head.

Re: Your iPod or your life?
I agree with Habs, a little. Price is relative to what use a buyer gets out of a product. A good leather product -- a briefcase or handbag for example, lasts for years. So, that $500-$1000 purchase will be around as long as five or 10 of a lower priced item. Could even become an heirloom. My 'commercial' for the iPod is a 'worth the price because it is useful' argument, too.
I'm worried about Debbie, who I think is a straying from Apple faithfulness. Maybe we should start a 'Buy Debbie an iPod' thread.

You have no clue what you're talking about. You're so ignorant.
$400 gets you a great belt, but belts sell for even more.
This Gucci sells for $710.

A good leather briefcase can last forever, but a lot of them are over $1000. Like the one here.
Like I said, you guys are clueless. The price of an iPod doesn't get you much of anything luxurious.

This entire silly rant just because someone said this to you:
Just because you don't have one doesn't mean....

I mean, I didn't see anyone calling an ipod "luxurious," though an ipod would absolutely be a "luxury" to a large number of people.

Thats because you are buying a name, the quality of the belt is no better than one availible for $50. If you want to flagrantly waste money trying to look cool by proxy, go for it. You might end up spending a lot more than you got tho.

Well, if $400 is so little money, why not send me $100? That must be like pocket change to you.

Yep. Buying real estate is even trendier right now than buying an iPod.
While I disagree with Habs (most people would consider $400 to be a lot of money), I can't believe that people would be willing to take a human life, and possibly lose their own freedom, just for something worth a week or two's pay. --Such people must truly be psychopaths.

Re: Your iPod or your life?
Steve Jobs has called the Christopher Rose's family to offer condolences.
As Errol Rose made preparations on Monday to bury his 15-year-old son, Christopher, who was killed last week in Brooklyn during a fight over an iPod, he received a telephone call from a stranger. The man spoke in tones that the grieving father said had momentarily quieted his anguish.
The stranger, Mr. Rose soon learned, was Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple Computer, the company that makes the iPod.
"I didn't know who he was," Mr. Rose said yesterday. "He called me on my cellphone, at 4 maybe. Or maybe it was 5." Mr. Rose said he had stopped noticing the passage of time since his son was killed.
The men spoke for a few minutes.
Calling him by his first name, Mr. Jobs asked how Mr. Rose was doing, he said, and conveyed his sympathies. "He told me that he understood my pain," Mr. Rose said. "He told me if there is anything - anything - anything he could do, to not be afraid to call him. It really lightened me a bit."
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/06/nyregion/06ipod.html
As Sternum pointed out, the robbery happened in Brooklyn. Christopher, with some other young teens, was walking a few blocks to the train station. They were set upon by a group that may have numbered as many as 20. In addition, he looks younger than 15. It wasn't even really his iPod. So, I don't think he can be blamed for what happened at all.
Steve Jobs has a heart.
