Will Microsoft buy Quark?
Just a question...
But they seem to be producting this new graphics application and toying around with a PDF rival technology. So I just wondered. With Adobe being the only horse in town now, it would be interesting to see what would happen if MS seriously entered the design market.

Re: Will Microsoft buy Quark?
If they bought Quark the first thing they'd do would be to drop the Mac version. Then they'd retool it as a product which it was never intended to be in the first place.
Look at what they did to Creature House Expression.

Re: Will Microsoft buy Quark?
As much as I dislike all things Microsoft, MS could hardly do a worse job than the Quark company has the last...what? 7 or 8 years.
I could see MS doing that, it is a glaring hole in their product line. Publisher is for laying out church news letters and lost dog posters. MS would probly like a Pro level layout app.

Re: Will Microsoft buy Quark?
Wont future macs be able to pretty much run all windows software much more easily than before because of the new intel move? It would be sorta pointless to drop mac versions of anything at this point I would think. But I never really liked Quark past 4.

back in the days of quark 3 i was a quark-evangelist. when quark 4 came out i thought it was the most amazing thing ever (especially when comparered to pagemaker from that time). since quark 5 and 6 though, it has really gone downhill. now i'm turning into an indesign-evangelist.
usually i shudder at the thought of microsoft buying another independent software creator, but quark has really mismanaged itself and destroyed it's image with the incredibly long wait for a lame quark 6. microsoft might actually be able to turn quark around.

PUBLISHER! PUBLISHER! PUBLISHER!
Ni! Ni!
My friend and I are starting a theater company, and so we've been working on logos and stuff.
She comes to me one day and says, "I found this program the other day. It's really cool! Take a look!" Guess what it is?
So she's doing this stuff in Publisher using the canned designs and being like "Look what I made!" and I'm just like "No."
It's really annoying when people think they "made" the crappy designs, when it's really Microsoft that made the crappy designs.
