Re: Self-Destructing People
Um, FYI: non-smokers get cancer too, you know.
STRANGE, BUT TRUE!

Re: Self-Destructing People
A lifelong smoker sits on his bed, and coughs up pink foamy froth, complaining of chest pain. He's been in the hospital befor, has health insurance (paid for by me and you) and has a loving wife next to him.
His loving wife states, "I need to find another place to smoke. That walk out past the parking garage just WORE ME OUT!"
He wonders, "Why did God pick me to have a heartattack?"
These are the people, that have some of the best possible health care , information (net), resources (money), and education that anyone in the world can want for.
I think my rant is done now.
Sounds kinda similar to what my brother was telling me once except the guy was way overweight. Guess his overweight daughter came in and said I don't undersatnd why this happened, he was fine last week. Maybe if your fat ass dropped 300 pounds you wouldn't have been here in the first place. It's one thing if you were trying to lose weight or stop your addiction it's another when you don't even smurfing care and those people get what they deserve.

Re: Self-Destructing People
There is no such thing as a recovered addict, only recovering ones.
My husband and I stopped six years ago. We still want cigarettes. If we make it to 85, we're going to start smoking again. (I was a four pack a day person at one time. Then I spent three years on the patch. THREE YEARS! And I still lit up as soon as I got home from work.)
Stopping smoking was the hardest thing I ever did.

thinking back from present till six years ago, do you gage the time as more or less quality as, say, six years when you were using cigarettes? Point thread meaning, do you really think when (and if) you and your husband turn 85 you will want to go back to smoking? All hypothetical, of course, but it relates to my current hypothetical thinking process. I have stopped drinking alcohol for almost a year, addicted moderately for 5-10 years (I am 24 years old) and now I am thinking whether or not having a drink every now and then socially would be manageable in my recovery after going 1 year without. Who knows -- Basically, i may not actually want to go back to my old habits after developing new ones.

That was revolting.
The teal background, the horrendous word with clashing background as a header, the ugly menu and worst of all, the pseudo-3D effect on the edges of the tumour picture. At least cig packets have a warning on them.

LOL
At least it isn't light grey text on said teal background... :shudder:
I've got a worse one for ya:

I go to college in the same city as this abomination of a store - my Professor for Human-Computer-Interaction (UI Design essentially) pointed this one out to us as the best example he could find of bad websites. I think they've shortened it some since he showed it to us several months ago, but still YECCHH..
As for smoking - EWWW tumor on the OUTSIDE? YUCK!
I've never smoked a cigarette or anything else in my life, but several of my friends did. I hung out with them enough that I got a contact-high from them or something, because even now, when anyone lights up tobacco near me I recognize the effect their side/second hand smoke has on me. I feel a relaxation, a sense of lightness with an edge that I suspect is only a muted version of what smokers must feel.
THAT is powerful - that alone tempted me on a few occasions to try smoking when I still hung out with smoking friends. I'm glad I didn't - because I can say for certain that I would be addicted damn quickly, and that for me it would be difficult to quit.

Re: Self-Destructing People
I tried cigarettes and absolutely hated them. I have never smoked since.
Maybe I did it wrong.
