Most Beautiful Macintosh Computer?

So... what do you think is the sexiest/most beautiful Mac in pure looks?  (doesn't have to be a desktop computer, any kind, any date)

My vote: iMac G4

Runners Up: Aluminum Powerbook 17'' and G4 Cube.

Internally a piece of crap but you just got to love the external design of the 20th Aniversary Mac.

Re: Most Beautiful Macintosh Computer?

PowerMac G4 Cube all the way. It had form and function all in one plus some decent upgrade options unlike your AIO Macs.

Then theres the Beige G3. Last of the ADB Macs and is probably one of the easiest i've ever worked with when it came to upgrading. Plus it was more PC like than other Macs so you could use some PC parts if the originals went out like the PSU.

QuarkXPress dongles? Really?
I have worked in around a dozen printshops in my life and have never seen or heard of a Quark hardware dongle.
Under what circumstances would you end up with one of those instead of just a serial number?

Re: Most Beautiful Macintosh Computer?

I liked the way the Cube looked, though I never bought one.   It was the computer that people in Asimov, Roddenberry or Bear's imagined worlds would have.  But, except for owning an iMac briefly (I resold it), I've been 'nuthin' but notebooks' for a decade.

Well, Beige was the last of the pure ADB Macs wink tongue. B&W was all new world tongue.

i think the Titanium PowerBooks are beautiful!
i don't know about that 20th anniversary Mac...
i suppose i'd have to judge it on the tech available then...
but my desktop vote goes to the G4 iMac.

I still like the original pizza box LC series. Of course my first computer was an LC II. . .

Huh, learn something new every day. Now I am curious about why I have never seen one.

Imac G5, definitely.  As close to perfect as a computer has come (form-wise).

Re: Most Beautiful Macintosh Computer?

I was under the impression the B&W's ADB port was for Apple Colorsync monitors which used ADB to allow the computer to control the monitor functions.

Desktop AIO: Torn between iMac G4 & G5
Compact Desktop: Torn between the Mini & the Cube
Tower: The Quicksilvers, no question! (Though I do love how clean the PM G5s are internally.)
Laptop: Torn between the Pismo & the newest 15" models

I do have to say I love my Pismo/500!  Although, my PB 1400/133 isn't bad either.  Kinda slow, but really cool!  smile

Yep, I have to agree with the Quicksilver/iSub combo, although I have the iSticks as well.  tongue

Re: Most Beautiful Macintosh Computer?

iMac g4
Makes me want to put a mirror behind my desk.

http://www.quentin.cz/produkty/apple/iMac2003GHz/obr/imac.jpg

Second place, iMac DV
The dark, translucent shell made this one really stand out for me.
http://www.everymac.com/images/cpu_pictures/apple_imac_dv_se.jpg

Third place, Powerbook Lombard
So curvy and black.
http://www.everymac.com/images/cpu_pictures/apple_powerbook_g3_3rd.jpg

There isn't really anything sexy about the new iMacs. Minimalistic, sure. But pretty? No. A block on a peice of metal. There's no expression there.

The Cube is quite pretty, but hooked up to a monitor, it's awkward. There's no flow. Same for the Mini.

The old Macs really can't be called pretty. They were beige. I could get nostalgic, but they weren't pretty.

That color is not "beige" it's Platinum.
