Heh. Apple JUST put USB 2.0 ports on their keyboard. lol

Meaning they are two steps beyond most other wired keyboard makers (no ports what-so-ever).

To the best of my knowledge, the Apple Pro keyboard was only USB 1.1 until the recent revision, and this includes the wired one.

Re: USB 3.0

I thought FW had a "sustained" transfer rate, whereas USB had a "burst" transfer rate - making FW the better choice for moving data (such as video capture.)  I'm not a techie, but I thought I read that somewhere.

I really like the feel of FW - if that's even possible:) - it just seems to be the more "professional" due to the higher end peripherals it services - at least in my feeble mind.

I added a USB drive to my mini and I don't like the way it has to "come to life" when I need it.  If I try to record a track in GB to the USB drive, I have to double click the drive to wake it up before I press record.  My FW drive just starts recording without missing a beat.  I wonder if it's a power mgmt issue?

It's the drive itself. Western Digital "MyBook" drives like to spin down, regardless of the means used to connect it. It's incredibly annoying.

And I was saying that recent upgrade puts two steps ahead of the most other keyboard makers instead of the one they were. You just missed the distinction.

Re: USB 3.0

You can set your computer preferences so drives do not spin down, although some enclosures may override that.

Oh and Firewire is way better then USB2; and so long as pro video manufacturers are using FW400 and FW800, then Apple will have them on the computers.

But screw all that, I am really looking forward to Sony and Sandiscs new PCIe ExpressCard34 memory cards.  May make Panasonic's P2 card obsolete.

Re: USB 3.0

I dunno guys, all of the benchmark tests I have seen have shown USB2 to be pretty equal with FW400. Apple's implementation of USB usually comes up somewhat slower than PCs tho so maybe that's the rub.

What?  I was so hoping that eSATA would become the gold standard.  Man, I never get anything I want.
