Woman dies while in custody at Phoenix airport

Source. This article is somewhat more concerned that the woman involved is apparently a NYC socialite.

I did find this quote by a police spokesman rather interesting:

It appeared as though Ms. Gotbaum had possibly tried to manipulate the handcuffs from behind her to the front, got tangled up in the process, and they ended up around her neck area.

Contemplate that for a while, please?

She suffocated herself trying to escape? Well, obviously I think the family should sue the police for arresting her then.

I tried to picture it, but it hurt so I stopped.

Authorities said neither a Taser nor pepper spray was used on the woman.

If she was in a holding cell, why was she still cuffed?

Doesn't seem possible to me.

It was not a cell, but a holding room.

Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.  Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."  They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

That's true. I wonder if the family will insist upon independent observation (if not outright supervision)?

Well said!

Just remember that folks, Arizona takes a dim view of your liberal, and terrorist ways.

By the way, they are working on getting rid of the U.S. Constitution in Arizona, it interferes with the execution. I mean the execution of the laws of the state of Arizona.

Re: Woman dies while in custody at Phoenix airport

You know the more I think about this, the more it seems contrived. What was she double jointed? Or did her arms mearly rotate 360 degrees in all directions. The discription isn't enough for me to believe what they are saying.

Did they mean to say that her clothing became wrapped around her neck?

The way you attempt to get your hand from behind your back is by passing them under you feet, from back to front. The human body doesn't bend in other directions.

It looks bad for the police. On the face it appears to be a wrongful death suit at best, and manslaughter at worst.

Sturner, she was also shackled to a bench.

I'd say it was a failed attempt to escape, at best.
