F@H on iMac G5
Well I have started Folding At Home recently and as of this moment i have almost 25% of my first WU done.
I was just wondering, is an iMac g5 good to fold on? I thought about how cramped it is inside there and im a little worried. I am currently at 72 degrees Celsius.... hasn't moves much from there. Should I be worried? Will it over heat? btw its a 3rd gen iMac.

Re: F@H on iMac G5
Welcome to the Team.
I have a 1st or 2nd generation iMac G5 folding under my name at my brother's house. However, he travels so much that the last protein didn't complete in time, in spite of my settings with Energy Saver automatic startup.
Seeing that you're in Maine, temperatures are less of a concern. I suppose the humidity there is higher than for me in the Midwest.
My view is that all G5 and Intel desktops are good.
However, if you think the fans are running too much, we can turn Folding off or on, or just put the machine to sleep. One way to temporarily kill folding is via the Activity Monitor. You would want to "quit" the process "fah5".
We can also schedule folding to run at certain hours. At least two members of the team have this. Easy to setup. Just tell us what hours and days those are.

Re: F@H on iMac G5
Team member Connemara has been folding on a G5 iMac for 17 months and that is her only machine. She has a bit over 10,000 points.
Note: your protein statistics show up in 2 places.
This one is prettier looking http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ … =&t=18 or in the Team User list there, probably around page 5.

Proteins can vary a lot in size. So, you're next protein might be tiny or a pretty big one. It might even have the exact same name.

Re: F@H on iMac G5
Ok. Good to see that it shouldn't be a problem running it. Also, I have F@H running almost 99% of the time. I usually have it sleeping while I am at school but on weekend and when I am home its open. Thanks for the stat pages. I'll bookmark it.
