Lowes
They probably lost a potential customer.
I need specific water filters that they sell. I checked this out online, and they said the 2 stores closest to me had them in stock. I went to the first store, and while their computer said they had 8 on the shelf, they had one that was open and visibly well used. The customer service person said they all probably got stolen. Oh yeah, and they first sent me to the wrong section. They sent me to the refrigerator filter section. I want water pitcher filters. The guy didn't know what a water pitcher was.
I went to the other store. Their computer said they also had them in stock. They had none. No explanation given.
I considered ordering from them online, but they have no picture available online and i'm afraid of them sending me the wrong ones, since there is another filter that's similar.
What a waste of gas and my time.

Re: Lowes
You should have asked them to check their overflow stock. Often they'll have some in the back or at the top of a shelf, and they haven't refreshed the shelves.

Re: Lowes
Back when home depot was the only game in town, lowes was a godsend. But now it seems that home depot has gotten their act together, and lowes has gone really downhill. For example, when I needed to get copies of keys made for my new apartment, I stood at the key counter at lowes waiting for somebody to come over and help for at least 10 minutes, and then drove over to home depot, where there was somebody there to make my keys, and I did not need to wait.

They said they didn't have any in the back (both stores).

Well then I guess they're due for an inventory count.

Re: Lowes
The lowes near me is so much better than the Home Depot. I mainly go for the nursery section, and the Home Depot never has any terra cotta pots in stock, their stuff is all dead and it's pretty expensive. Lowes has been much better for me and my feeble attempts at growing things.

Re: Lowes
I've had this happen both online and at stores too many times. It's really annoying to go through the whole online process of ordering, then get a "We're sorry, but..." email the following day. Or like Justine, drive to the store and find out they haven't got what you want.
It makes me wonder why they encourage you to 'check stock online', when their system doesn't work. Just to rub salt into the wound, when you go back to the tried and true method of just calling the store, chances are you'll get put on hold where an automated voice will cheerfully inform you that you can save time by using their nifty "new online system to check what's in stock at any store, any tome, just type in www....."
It seems like businesses spent most of the 20th century figuring out ways to profit by making customers happy and loyal, in the 21st they seem to be trying to figure out how to profit by pissing people off.

About the time i posted this, i also fired off an email to customer service explaining that this was my first experience with them and will likely be the last if this is the way they treat customers. I had to leave for a while, and when i came back, i had a response email asking me for the specifics like my name and address as well as the product i was looking for.
We'll see what happens.

Next time ask for a litre cola. Watch out, they might try to sell you a large farva instead.

I would spend more money at the corner Ace if their prices on stuff weren't 4x the price of the bigger stores. As it is, though, I support them plenty.
The people who work for Lowes, Menards, and Home Depot around here seem universally retarded. None of them know where ANYTHING is.
It's a big store, I get it, but come on - you work here. Get on the phone and find somebody that knows where the stuff I want is.
(Half the time, I end up finding it in 2 minutes at Walmart.)

I tried Sears for the product. They don't sell the specific filter i need. I can still order it online at Lowes, but i really hate to order it and then get the wrong one since there are 2 that are very similar.

I went to get copies of my apartment key at Lowes back in the spring, and not only did the copy they made not work, but in the process of making it they somehow managed to cut one of the ridges off the end of the original, making it not work either.
I was rather pissed.

My apartment keys have always said "do not duplicate." Rent is charged based on the number of people given access.
I suppose if I were trying to get keys duplicated in violation of a contract and I found somebody unscrupulous enough to do it for me, I'd deserve what I got.
Your lease may be different, though.

I've never seen apartment keys that had that. I've seen the keys to the pool, laundry rooms and rec areas, but not the actual apartments. They can't keep you from changing the locks on your doors as long as you supply them with a key, too.

Re: Lowes
The Home Depot in town is more like a warehouse than Lowes and is dirtier. I also go to Lowes more because it's a local (North Wilkesboro, North Carolina) company. They just built a new one closer to my house.

My keys do not say that, neither does my lease, and in fact the manager told me to get my key duplicated when I requested one from her, but thanks for the condescension regardless.
