Something I did not know:

Laserwriter 8500s don't die, they just get worn feed rollers.

You can also configure them via Telnet/Terminal in OS X.

You can telnet into most HP network printers and print servers. The 8500 probably has HP innards and/or network adaptor. Wouldn't be the first time... smile
