Buying advice
Howdy all,
I was considering buying a Mac Pro this weekend, I know that OS 10.5 is due out at the end of this month but I can get that later, I was wondering if the end of the year is a good time to buy or if there will be some new developments in the Mac Pro before Christmas, advice anyone. I know the Penryn is due out in November but I think that the models they will be in will be way out of my price range.
Just pondering if I should wait or not
Thanks all

Re: Buying advice
Usualy we get an update before the holiday shopping season, so if you can wait, you should probably do so.
Besides, the money you save getting Leopard bundled would buy all sorts of nifty stuff: a ram upgrade maybe, or most of a new AP Extreme (When I found out Apple had made an entry-level NAS, I about wet myself; I will be purchasing one soon.)

Usually I say "If you need a computer now, buy a computer now"
But not now. You should really wait it out this time.

Re: Buying advice
If you can, wait until after MWSF in January. Leopard will have been out for a couple of months, any major bugs squashed, and any major new products announced/released.
Why isn't anything raisin-flavored?

Agreed. Unless your computer has actually stopped functioning and you need to complete real work (i.e., for money), wait a little while.

Wait till DirectX 10 GPUs come out. Otherwise you'll wish you had waited, for support reasons in the future.

But who likes x.0 releases? For production work, I'd wait till 10.5.3 at least..
QFT, but I wouldn't put a number on it. I usually upgrade my laptop immediately and play around with it until I can imagine using it on my production machines. (which still run 10.3.8 heh)
