I said "what if" they came out with an update. Big difference.

Actually you said:

That works fine for Leopard but what if they make changes to the MBP as rumored.

Thank you for posting that and VERIFYING what I said.

My point was that you were making it sound as if there were rumors of an upcoming MBP update.

Probably because that's what I've read wink

is that a reason to wait or to upgrade now???

I feel it's a reason to wait. I know I am not alone as in similar threads many others have agreed with me on waiting to buy anything since it's so close to when Leopard comes out. You disagee and would buy today, that's fine. I guess we're in one of those 'agree to disagree' situations. Either way the choice isn't yours or mine to make. Have a nice day.

Thanks for taking the time to not really read what I wrote and then respond wink

You still say you've read about upcoming MacBook PRO updates but provide no links. Waiting for Leopard to be released so it comes pre-installed is one thing. However, you are making it sound like the release of Leopard is coinciding with the release of a new MacBook Pro.

The point is that computers are updated all the time. If you wait a month now and nothing comes out do you wait another month? I'm all for waiting when there is credible evidence that an update is on the horizon. Until you provide some links to these things you've read I'll continue to recommend buying now.

So you feel that the fact that "one thing is for certain, technology is always advancing" is a reason to wait??? If you wait isn't that still going to be certain and shouldn't you wait longer?

No, rumors are rumors by nature for a reason. No one has that information but the big boss man Steve Jobs.

If you wait a month now and nothing comes out do you wait another month?

Frank, we both know there is no definite answer to this. It is a personal preference based on everyones own situation. Some people like myself are cautious and would wait. I feel that it's only 3-4 days away and a person would have nothing to lose and everything to gain by waiting UNLESS they needed it for work or something like that. At the very least it saves them the hassel of installing Leopard. Others would want it now and would not wait. There is no right or wrong answer, especially to a hypothetical question like this with so many variables.

If all you are advocating is waiting until the release of Leopard then I would agree with that. It just sounded like you were making generalizations about a MBP coming out soon. My point was that there are definitely times when it is worth waiting. One of the ones I listed (MWSF) is only 10 weeks away. The longer you wait right now will only bring you closer to that date and the closer you are to that date it would make sense to wait. I was just saying that the waiting game can go on forever and the enjoyment of a new computer now is often worth more than wasting a few months waiting.
