Spotlight still sucks?
First Leopard impressions: Meh and Spotlight still sucks. Can somebody confirm that it's not just my install that's shot?
I picked a random document to look for: a web receipt in my Docs folder called "Ticketbastard 0107.pdf" It seems to find it if I search for t, ti, ticket, ticketbas...great. But If I search for bastard, ick, ketb, or anything that doesn't include the first "t" it won't find it. My immediate thought was that Spotlight's File Name search (which, btw, still doesn't STICK when you try to tell it you only ever want to search for filenames...ever.) is a search for "Name starts with..." instead of "Name contains..." but that's only kinda true. I've got another file printer_test.pdf that shows up in searches for "print" and "test" but not for "rint" or "est". A normal "Name starts with..." search wouldn't return that file on a search for "test" and a normal "Name contains..." search would return that file on a search for any piece of the name. What the hell is this?
I know the standard response to this complaint is "I know where all my smurf is. You need to be more organized." but these people have obviously never used a Mac in a work environment. Alls it takes is one other cow orker or client with different ideas about how files should be named and arranged and that response is out the window. This blows.

Re: Spotlight still sucks?
It will take me more than a week to get to where you are pottymouth. Does it support wildcards or regular expression searches? I know it's probably too much to expect, but those are my concerns. Otherwise you'd probably get better resuts doing a grep search in Terminal.
