G3 as print server for Epson 1520?
I'm working with a client who wants to use his Epson 1520 printer. It still cranks out exceptional wide-format posters he needs.
He has two Quicksilvers running OS 10.4.10, a couple of iMacs running 10.3 and three generic Windows machines running XP.
Gutenprint and CUPS has the software, but the Mac can't find the printer. We've tried all manner of cables and adapters, but it still won't print. The closest we've gotten is the error in the Print Manager that the machine is busy.
They originally used a G3 desktop and OS9 for all the printing on the Epson. It's still around and in great shape and the official Epson printer drivers work fine. Is there any way of turning it into a print server?
Note that I'd rather not pay more for the fix than the printer is worth.
Thanks bunches,
rob
