samba issue
I'm having issues with my FreeBSD server running samba and I think it's a Leopard issue.
I can connect to the samba share from my iBook by issuing:
$ smbclient //ip_of_server/share/
But if I try to access it under through the finder through "connect to server" and then put smb://ip_of_server/, I get an error (Error Code -43) saying it's missing required items.
Any ideas of where I would start troubleshooting this?

Re: samba issue
I think you will need the id and password of an account on that machine not just the ip address.

Re: samba issue
That's what I figured too, but I'm never prompted to enter my user name and password...
The user name on my iBook and server are the same by the way.
There very first time I tried connecting, I was prompted and there was an error connecting. Now every time I try to connect there is no prompt, just an error message.
I've tried relaunching the finder, restarting my mac, and restarting samba on my server. Nothing seems to work.

Re: samba issue
Is there a file similar to ~/.ssh/known_hosts, that would hold server configurations for samba that I could trash and try again? Maybe it was a password typo or something...

Re: samba issue
So, I resolved this by removing the "shares" section and used the "homes" section to define my shared folders in my smb.conf. Not sure what the exact issue was because it was my first time dealing with samba.
