An Obama Nation

I've been looking at the polls in Iowa (2008 Polling Data) and it looks like he just may win it.
Heck, he just may even become president.

One guy in the liberal media has seen the future, if this comes to be.

Channeling Dick by Thomas L. Friedman

I have no idea who is going to win the Democratic presidential nomination, but lately I’ve been wondering whether, if it is Barack Obama, he might want to consider keeping Dick Cheney on as his vice president.

...

And that brings me back to the Obama-Cheney ticket: When it comes to how best to deal with Iran, each has half a policy — but if you actually put them together, they’d add up to an ideal U.S. strategy for Iran. Dare I say, they complete each other.

Vice President Cheney is the hawk-eating hawk, who regularly swoops down and declares that the U.S. will not permit Iran to develop a nuclear weapon. Trust me, the Iranians take his threats seriously. But Mr. Cheney’s Dr. Strangelove imitation is totally wasted with President Bush and Secretary of State Condi Rice. Because the president and secretary of state have never been able to make up their minds as to what U.S. policy toward Iran should be — to bring about regime change or a change of behavior — it’s impossible to have any effective diplomacy.

Of all the idiots running for president, Obama is the least idiotic... from what I can tell.

But, I thought that of Dubya in 2000, too.  So, what do I know.

Friedman jumped the shark the 2nd or 3rd time he invoked the Friedman unit when talking about Iraq.

Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.  Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."  They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

He's very charismatic - and while I disagree with his politics, a charismatic leader goes a long way in many respects. I also think he may be one of the more honest candidates - but it is possible that thought is influenced by his charisma.

If I had to pick a dem, it would be Joe.
He's not running - of those dems that are, I like Obama the best.

Well, who the heck else was there?

Gore?  He's still a bore, and pompous to boot.
McCain?  He was an old codger back then too.

I can't even remember anyone else.

Well,  I assume Sharpton was in the early race (because he usually was back then), but that's not saying much either.

But, who else was there?  No one of any note.

Well, of course.  Liebermann's a Republican.   He just pretends otherwise.

How could you think Bush was smart when he couldn't string five words together? And what does it matter if a president is pompous, boring or a codger? Shouldn't he key question be whether he/she can do the job?

An independent who happens to vote with the dems more often than most dems do on virtually every issue except Iraq.

Meh. Even on non-Iraq issues he's pretty moderate.

Remember that he got elected by running to the right of the last remaining liberal Republicans to grace the Senate, Lowell Weicker. Hell, he was even endorsed by William F Buckley.

I have a feeling Obama would get crushed, while Hillary would at least keep it competitive.

I'm hoping the Republicans nominate Giuliani. The Republican base doesn't seem to mind the creepiness and corruption, but he'll turn off a large segment of the public.

Re: An Obama Nation

The major candidates for both Republicans and Democrats are jokes, in my opinion.  They've all taken sooo much money from special interest groups, they'll have plenty of favors to repay once in office.

People love to hate Hillary. She's in for a hell of a rough ride if she gets the nomination.

I was under the impression that satire was clearly humorous.  There's no way anyone would seriously pair a Democrat with Vice President Cheney.

Did you just use the word "humour" in connection with Thomas Friedman? I know it seems impossible, but that's kind of how your post described it.

I'm just wondering why the NYTimes ran that bit....I mean, he's so far past the Baghdad Bob point of delusion.  I guess its just the MSM's liberal bias trying to make conservative cheerleaders look like even greater fools.

I wonder if Krauthammer will feel that he has to top this.  Could be fun.
