(Pre Press) Less Headache in the future...
Got the down low that the next version of MS Publisher will be able to output composite CMYK.
Still doesn't mean I'll like it but maybe we'll actually be able to make money on those jobs then...

There's going to be a next version?
I wonder if it'll trap, output spot colors, or be remotely mac friendly.

The current version does in fact trap and support spot colors (it even supports CMYK+Spot), I was impressed when it actually WORKED on a spot color job! Anything CMYK still sucks though.
The support isn't great, but it's in there.
As far as Mac friendly, you should know better. It's M$!

Re: (Pre Press) Less Headache in the future...
There was an intersting blurb recently in the Nov/Dec issue of BigPicture, touting the ability of CorelDraw 11 to "import Powerpoint and Publisher files for quick doctoring...and conversion to process or appropriate PMS colors"
Now, if the Mac version of Corel could do the same, we'd be onto something.
Of course, I just tack on an extra hour or two to any Publiswhore job before it even hits the front door.

Punisher 2002.
If you join the Publisher PSPP through Microsoft they keep you up to date and give you free tech support. Basically they know it's a pain for service providers and they know full well we could kill the product if we wanted to, so the tech support is at no cost.
I've spent HOURS on the phone with those suckers and have not paid a penny towards the product or the service.

I just might start accepting corel files if that is true, and it works.

I'll test it out, I've got plenty of Publishwore files to test it on! We only have ver 10 of Corel, although I have this 30-day Trial CD staring at me for ver 11. It's even dual platform, dare I tempt the Prepress Gods and install the Mac trial??
