It still won't die.
Another Gamespot Reviewer To Depart
Kotaku is reporting that yet another long time reviewer for the gaming web site Gamespot has decided to leave. Alex Navarro has turned in his notice and will leave the site on Jan. 24. This is the second reviewer for the site to announce his departure in less than a week; Frank Provo has also annouced his departure from Gamespot earlier this month. His reasons were because of his disagreement with management over the firing in late November of Gamespot executive editor Jeff Gerstmann. There's no word on the reasons behind Navarro's departure.

It is looking more and more like Gamespot is not a place to get your info.

Re: GameSpot Editorial Director Fired Over Low Review Score?
This might be.
1Up.com's site manager Sam Kennedy has posted up a lengthy post on his blog site giving his opinions on last November's firing of GameSpot's executive editor Jeff Gerstmann and how that firing might affect both GameSpot as a web site and game journalism as a whole. The post is quite detailed and is definitely a good read. One thing that was interesting was a mention of what Gerstmann might be doing next:
As for Jeff, word on the street is that he's teaming with GameSpot founder Vince Broady (who recently left Yahoo) to build a new game site to "take on GameSpot." Now that would be interesting, wouldn't it?

Gamespot attempts to stop the bleeding.
Gamespot Names New Editor-In-Chief
This press release announces that Ricardo Torres has been named as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Gamespot gaming news web site. Torres was previously the editorial director of the web site and now takes over the position previously held by Greg Kasavin who left GameSpot over a year ago to take on a position at Electronic Arts. Until today the Editor-in-Chief spot has remained vacant. Torres takes over the top spot at Gamespot following last November's firing of editor Jeff Gerstmann by the management of Gamespot's parent company CNet. Two of the site's reviewers have since resigned their positions as a result of Gertsmann's firing.

Re: GameSpot Editorial Director Fired Over Low Review Score?
...and on. It won't stop.
Biz.Gamedaily reports that yet another long time staffer at the gaming web site Gamespot is leaving his post. Ryan Davis, who has worked for the site for eight years , has decided to leave his position. Davis worked as an associate editor on the site. Davis's departure is the third such major defection from Gamespot since the firing in late November of now former executive editor Jeff Gerstmann; Frank Provo and Alex Navarro, both long time staff members, left the site soon afterward. It's not yet officially known why Davis has decided to leave but in a blog post following Gerstmann's firing it's clear that Davis took Gerstmann's firing particularly hard.

Gerstmann's Revenge begins.
GameSpot Vets Launch (Sort Of) GiantBomb.com
A new gaming web blog called GiantBomb.com has launched which represents the first true entry in the game news business from former Gamespot executive editor Jeff Gerstmann, who was fired for still unclear reasons from Gamespot back in November. The site also has Alex Navarro and Ryan Davis on board, both of whom soon left their writing/editing roles at Gamespot following Gerstmann's firing. Giantbomb.com is just a blog site for now but Gertsmann states that the site will evolve into "a robust, feature-filled website" for game news and reviews.

Gerstmann's Revenge consummates.
CNet's GameSpot Management Head To Depart
Kotaku is reporting that Josh Larson, the vice president of the games section of web news company CNet (the parent company of GameSpot), will depart the company on April 9 due to a restructuring of the company's management. Larson, who came on board about a year ago, was fingered by rumors as the person who made the decision to fire Gamespot executive editor Jeff Gerstmann last November, allegedly because of Gerstmann's poor review of Eidos's Kane and Lynch which Gamespot heavily advertised on its site (CNet has officially denied this was the reason). Since Gerstmann's firing, five other long time Gamespot team members have departed with some of them joining with Gerstmann to form a new game oriented web site. Larson was apparently the victim of CNet's earlier announcement last month that it would cut 120 people from its company which is about 4 percent of its total worldwide workforce.

This pretty much marks 'case closed.'

Re: GameSpot Editorial Director Fired Over Low Review Score?
The GameSpot staff is currently keeping publicly quiet, but CNET, the parent organization of GameSpot, issued a response today. For over a decade, Gamespot and the many members of its editorial team have produced thousands of unbiased reviews that have been a valuable resource for the gaming community.

Colvin, who joined CNet just a month ago, was formerly the CEO of Dennis Publishing, who handle Maxim, Blender and the former Stuff magazines.
I'm surprised CNet isn't featuring "nipple slip" viral videos at this point, and replacing their tech reviews with articles on how to talk a woman into sleeping with you even if you're a piece of crap who clearly isn't worthy of the privilege.
