Football sucks (rant)
My family happens to be HUGE Bronco fans. I've never known any of the m to miss a game, in fact, one holds season tickets. Doesn't matter how bad they play, these guys always find time to watch the Broncos.
For the past 2 years, the Broncos have interfeared with our family dinner on Christmas Eve.
The past 2 years, they have been in town, and the game had started early enough for it to be over with by the time we were finished eating so we could enjoy the rest of the evening listing to music instead of an announcer.
This year, however, they play out of town and the game doesn't start until 6 p.m. We should be right in the middle of dinner at that time, which means the rest of the evening, I have to listen to "SHHHHH NOW NOW WAIT FOR A COMMERCIAL!"
Makes it hard to open gifts when everyone is telling you to shut up because they can't hear the score.
Can't eat earlier because everyone works. Don't want to eat too late, or we'll miss midnight mass. How long does a football game (assuming there's no OT)? I will try to reason with them, but I"m out numbered 16 to 2.

Make 'em turn the sound down on the TV, and play Christmas music. The score will be displayed on the screen often enough, and those who want to put the game into their background can, and those who want to pay attention to nothing else can do that too.

Give them all little personal TVs with headphones for Xmas this year so they won't annoy the rest of you with that crap.

I've got a ticket to Sunday's Pats game. My first ever. I'm way more interested in the tailgating but there's supposed to some sort of ridiculous winter weather event so probably the only thing I have to look forward to is freezing solid in the stands.

I got one of those for $10 a few years ago. Should be cheaper now 'cause they won't even work after, what is it, February?

College football is much more fun.

Perhaps, but I could never give as much of a damn about a college team as most Americans seem to.

It's slightly less boring than baseball...because of the cheerleaders. I was at a winter game and the 49ers cheerleaders all wore spandex jumpsuits.

Yeah, I saw an ad from a Big Lots store (close out products) for small TVs that had a disclaimer about the need for an adapter by Feb 09 in tiny type.

Broncos played on Thanksgiving a few years ago as well. It wasn't at my place, it was at my aunts (also fb fan) The TV was on LOUD so others could hear it over my cousin's cursing. I will ask him not to curs in my house and hope he respects it. I suppose if he didn't yell at the TV expecting them to hear him it may not be so bad.
It was pointed out to me that a good Christmas gift to my family would be to put up with it. I say a good Christmas gift for me would be to turn it off. It is, after all, my house.
I will attempt to keep the game off during dinner. Who cares what happens the first half anyway? I will also attempt to keep the sound down during presents. But my grandpa can't see well, nor can he hear well, so for him, I may have a headset plugged into the radio so he can hear what is going on.

I will also point out that if we plug in the video game, the kids won't be running up and down the stairs (their mom and grandma hate that)

And the radio too! I love the idea!
My second move was to hit the braker box and turn off all the power. If I didn't need heat that may be a good idea.

If you use a cable service then you could use the excuse that your cable is out. Try connecting the input cable to the output port of the cable translator box and vice versa--if you have the usual confusion of cables behind your TV then this "problem" won't be immediately obvious and it won't harm the cable box.

bah spectator sports.
I like to be in the action. Actually doing paintball, judo, archery>watching any overpaid 'roid munchers while sitting on my rump.
I say either turn the TV off and gtfo(get the F outside) or put on some Firefly.

I would disagree with the premise of this entire thread, but it's about the Broncos. And they do suck.

The Broncos do suck, no argument there. But football sucks in general.
(cont'd rant) I am tired of seeing my cousin yelling at his son for gettin gin his way during a football game. "not now, wait till after the game!" "Take that in your room!" "Get out of the way!"
Poor boy is going to grow up with a complex or something. I know for a fact my uncle never acted that way so not sure why my cousin does it. Kid thinks that the football game is more important than he is. I have to agree with him.

I'm going to vote to either remove the TV from the house or cut the cable for a week. Nothing good on right now anyway.
Alright, now, who wants to be transistorized?
