$4500 can also get you a 26" HDTV, decent stereo receiver, 80 GB PS3, Xbox 360 Elite w/ HD-DVD Drive, a Wii, and enough media to keep yourself entertained a while.

...tho you'd have to spend a lot more on games and other media to begin to enjoy that combo. Cost++

In the long run, by that time you'll need to upgrade. Not easy on a Mac (not trivial on most Dells either. That's why we build our own).

I can't get behind anyone's octo-core at this point for consumers.

I'd really really like to meet the guy, team, who ever sold this idea to Dell. Esp. since Dell is trying to rebuild their image/products after losing the #1 spot to HP.
