Quicktime 7.3.1 upgrade, avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!
I just upgraded my Mac Pro to the latest QT 7.3.1 and after leaving my Mac restarting for half an hour force reset it, bad move. Upon restart it came up with the setup assistant, and nothing I could do could get the Mac to start up properly. So I used my Gateway PC to check Macfixit, and sure enuf my problem is showing up there with other people, apparently this upgrade is kinda buggy. So unless you like debugging your Mac, I recommend skipping or delaying this upgrade till Macfixit figures out what's causing the problem. That is all

No problems for me using 10.3.9--neither static nor sync problems.

Worked fine for me; Leopard + G5. Now if Apple would only fix their barfed dual link DVI processing, we might have something to toast about.

Works fine for me also.
And I'm running a QS 2002 with CPU upgrade (Giga dual 1.8GHz) and a flashed video card (GeForce 7800GS). If it works for me, there must be something unusual about your system?

Distortion in iTunes playback on my G5/Tiger box. Everything fine on my MacBookPro/Leopard machine. Maybe it's time to upgrade the G5.
