Sleep mode slows typing

MAC G3 with OS9.2.1
Whenever I put the MAC to sleep, when I wake it up, all typing is slowed to about 1 key per second.  This is using Netscape, WORD, Simpletext.  Only thing that corrects it is RESTART.  Any sugestions?

Ya, that would be your system heap gone nuts if I remember correctly.
I seem to recall that a utility Called MacOsPurge Would help that.
I am astonished to find it still available:

Re: Sleep mode slows typing

I really wish that had fixed the problem, but, no.  Ran it several times.
Any other thoughts?     Just another piece of info--- this typing pane blinks every time a character is displayed (about 1 per second).

Why are you running 9.2.1 on the G3 and not 9.2.2 just wondering?

Re: Sleep mode slows typing

After all ... if we were big fans of upgrading would thid forum be necessary?

Keystroke problem remains ...
Keystrokes get buffered, but displayed at 1 per second.

Re: Sleep mode slows typing

Very true, have you tried resetting PRAM? Also, since 9.2.2 is a free update and is optimized for G3's if i remember would that be something worth looking into?

Re: Sleep mode slows typing

Your computer has the classic description of a hangover!  In stead of going to sleep it passes out!
I had sleep problems with 9 and a G3 - I used Sleeper by St Clair software to solve them.  The G3 doesn't have a real deep sleep so if you can get the screen to go to sleep mode and the disks to spin down you are saving as much energy as possible.
