Activision Sets Up Wii Guitar Hero III Disk Replacement

Activision has now announced a way for owners of the Wii version of the music game Guitar Hero III to be informed when replacement disk of the game will be available. The game was released with just mono sound instead of the promised surround sound. A support page on the Activision web site announces that people can call 866-780-8286 from 8 am-8 pm ET, M-F to pre-register for the replacement disk; Activision will notify people when the disk is ready to ship.

I'm not calling them.  That's stupid.  I should be able to register online and be notified via email.

You're dropping the ball on this one, Activision...

Re: Activision Sets Up Wii Guitar Hero III Disk Replacement

Oh, and what's this on that support page.

We are currently working with Nintendo and are planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game.

What does Nintendo have to do with this issue?  Tons of third-party games are capable of surround sound.  This isn't a Nintendo issue, it's a "the developer f'ed up" issue.

Also, why can't I buy a second guitar without having to buy the game a second time?  I want another guitar so I can play co-op at home, but short of buying a second $90 copy of a defective game, I can't.  That's crap.
