Reason #42345988 why I don't like christians

Even though I don't like religion in general the following issue is a particular one I have with christians.

If I cannot get people to understand my dislike towards christians reasonably then I resort to the following argument (almost guaranteed to work).

Why does soulcrusher dislike christians?

For the same reason that jews dislike nazis.

Christians came to my country, raped, tortured and killed my ancestors, established a a colony and exploited us for more than 300 years - all in the name of Jesus Christ.

Oh, but you may say, "how come most of you guys do not have a problem with christians nowadays, as a matter of fact, most of you converted to christianity" - converted? willingly? no no, it is an easy choice when you have to pick between the sword and the bible.

So, not only did christians physically exploited us, but they also fed us this Jesus bullsmurf to keep us on our knees and under their control. What better tool for control than having the colonized worship the god of the colonizer?

This history of both psychological and physical abuse is enough for me to dislike christians.

So, if you question my dislike for religion, I would like to remind you that you are being culturally insensitive and fit the profile of someone that would commit a hate crime.

Odds are that your ancestors were the Christians, conquerors, rapists, exploiters.

It has nothing to do with who your biological ancestors are but who you identify with.

While I can understand your empathy felt for the native population of your home country, I think it's odd to blame it on Christianity.  It could have been replaced just as easily with any type of dogma, and the same events would have transpired.

I grew up in St Louis, a majority black city. I grew up in a majority black area within that city.
I still think that it would be ridiculous for me to complain about how the white man enslaved my people.

a christian is a person who believes jesus is the son of god, died for all of man, etc...

a christian is NOT a person who sipmly says they're a christian, who simply goes to church, etc...

a christian is a christian because of their actions...not words.  if a person claims to be a christian and does not live a life according to what jesus has instructed...they're not a christain.  no matter how many times they go to church, no matter how many times they say they're a christian, etc...


for example, i could claim to be a charitable person.  saying it's good to help others in need, it's good to volunteer, etc...  but if i'm not out there MYSELF helping others, volunteering to help others, etc... and leaving it up to other people, government, etc...  i'm not much of a charitable person, am i?

If you want to have a dislike for Christians that come to your country and rape your people, destroying their historical artifacts, forcing conversion at gun point - I'm right there with you. I hate them too.

Hell, my ancestors were being raped, plundered, and oppressed by the British a lot more recently than soulcrusher's ancestors were wiping out American Indians and I don't go around pissing on Anglican churches for the plight of My People.

But not all Christians do the things you speak of, and many speak against such actions. Just like not all Germans are nazi's and many speak against their actions.

This is true, and applies to all religions, including the muslims and buddhists, etc.

But, for the purpose of politics it's not really valid. Because it makes it too easy for any Christian to point at any other Christian, and say "hey, you're not a Christian!"

Is George Bush really a Christian? Is Huckabee really a Christian? Is Clinton really a Christian? Are those Catholic priests that raped kids really Christians?

This is kind of a cop out really. If there really was something innately special to Christians/Christianity, there wouldn't be so much hypocrisy and corruption among "Christians." That fact that you see fit to have such an ambiguous definition of Christians I think reinforces the idea that organized religion is void of true substance.

What is the difference between Vista and OSX?

Jews don't have to be bigots to dislike Germans. Most of my family feels that way, certainly. The holocaust is not an easy thing to forget.
