What happens when you die?
This is not a metaphysical question.
What I mean is what happens when a MAF poster dies? Do we ever get to find out?
How could I go about notifying you guys in the case that I die unexpectedly?
Think about it, some of the people that don't post anymore might just be dead, isn't that scary?

Re: What happens when you die?
I have a list of people to be notified in the event of my death. It includes email addresses.
I can only hope one of them will go to the trouble of starting a thread.

Re: What happens when you die?
I've had that thought before.
I assume that since you and I have been posting here for so long that at least a few of the posters with whom we were familiar must have died.
I suppose the only way others would know would be if your absence would trigger some event.
For example, while I don't expect to die any time soon, if I did, I'm pretty sure some people would know within the next two years, due to some sites I host not being renewed.

I hired an illegal immigrant to be my Internet assistant. She manages trolling on my spare eMac, downloads my torrents for me, and is prepared to give my posthumous farewells to everyone. I would recommend this system to anyone who can afford pennies - pennies! - a day for luxury.

None of you would know if I was dead. But it's ok to assume so.

I believe a MAF person did die before, and a friend/relative posted to inform us.
Make a will, and stipulate that if anyone wants your stuff, they need to register and post here to inform the community of the loss.

Re: What happens when you die?
It's getting to be a common problem. The relics of people's lives have always tended to hang around (I still get mail at my house addressed to my Grandfather, who died in 1982), but the immediacy and general access of internet sites makes it more apparent to more people.
Eventually, the server crashes or an admin deletes the files, usually oblivious to the fact that they are removing the final digital remnants of a person's life.

I'll have to let my wife know to post the details of my eventual death for all you to enjoy.

I think Macnuke is dead. Also Phydeaux, and Vegas.
But I really don't miss Vegas, 'cept that he was a SEC fan.

On the Internet no one knows that you're dead.

Re: What happens when you die?
Personally, I never develop personal relationships with people on line, so when I kick the bucket, I'll just fade away. I've stopped posting on various boards in the past, and am under no illusion that anyone is concerned about what happened to me.
