Use my RAM!!! Use it!
Hey genii,
Back in the old classic days, you could increase an application's RAM allowance to better it's performance.
So a week ago I installed Logic Express onto my MacBook, realized partway through the install that it required 1GB of ram, whereas I only had half. No problem... I was planning an upgrade anyway, so I boosted up to 2GB and expected it to run smoothly.
No such thing, Logic still won't play the demos on the CD. "Disk to Slow" and "System Override" errors and such.
Is there a way to force logic to use all of those loverly 2GB?

In OS X, the system will automatically give applications as much ram as they need, up to the amount available.
Maybe your disk is too slow?

Are you trying to play the demos while they are still on the cd?
Try moving them to the hard drive.

I recently had RAM failure on my Dual G5 PowerMac. It is quite possible that you have bad RAM. Try your Hardware Test Disc to check it out.
The backstory (may be ignored):
Ever since installing 2 GB kit to up the total to 2.5 GB this machine used only 26% or less of available RAM.
Well one day the Mac would not boot. Eventually I removed the 2 GB kit (1 GB stick times 2). The Mac would start and run just fine.
So I bought some more RAM (another 2GB matched kit). This time the RAM usage frequently exceeds 50%. And the Mac is very much faster.

I already moved the demos to my HD and they still don't play. Hmmm... time for a diagnostics I guess.
