Blue & White G3 Tower

I know the max ram is 1 gig total (256 PC100 X 4 slots).  But, has anyone tried 512?  Did it work?

Re: Blue & White G3 Tower

macsales.com only offer 256 sticks and they would offer 512s if they would work so I would say no.

You can use 512 sticks, but the computer will only recognize half of the chip.  Same thing happens when you put a 256 chip in a Beige G3.  It only recognizes 128megs of it.

I believe the beige G3 could support 256MB dimms, provided they were low-enough density.

Re: Blue & White G3 Tower

Tried it but didn't work. Same 512 worked perfectly in a G4.

Based on the findings of the report, my conclusion was that this idea was not a practical deterrent for reasons which at this moment must be all too obvious.

Yup. I have a beige G3 in front of me (well, behind the PB I am typing on) which has 768 MBs = 3 * 256 MB sticks.

Re: Blue & White G3 Tower

Hmmm.. Then perhaps I was thinking of 512's in a Beige.  All I remember is that I had a card in my beige and it only recognized half of it.
