They might have 35% Jagermeister, but the majority of germans drink beer or wine, not jager.

I can't say that I'm surprised to see the Irish and Germans in the top 3.

They only INVENTED the pilsner.

Canada is so low because of Quebec. Look where France is in that ranking. Quebec is like a chunk of France culturally.

Okay, you do know that just because a country produces high-proof alcohol it doesn't mean that they drink it every time they drink alcohol, right? I mean, you do know that there are -other- reasons to drink, right?
I mean, Everclear is made in St. Louis but that's not what everyone there drinks all the time.

Ever hear of Bohemia?

Lager was invented in the Czech city of Pilzn (where we get the word Pilsner)

Budweiser was named after the Germanized name of a Czech/Bohemian city -as was Michelob.

We spend many a sunday afternoon at a Bohemian beer Garden in the spring/summer/fall. (one of the coolest drinking establishments in the whole of NYC)

The Czechs drink beer at the exclusion of all other alcoholic drinks for the most part.

The typical Bud/Miller, etc isn't all that weak at all as far as alcohol content (for a pilsner Helles style).
It's main weakness is flavor.


As for strong beers, the US Micros out now have some of the strongest beers in the world -and the trend in the US micros is for very strong, extremely hoppy beers (Double IPAs, Barleywines, Imperial Stouts, etc)

I know all about it. It's just a national pasttime for Canadians to bash American beer, cause you know, American beer is the only drink that's stronger when you piss it out after.
