Switcher to MAC you too?
A newB from microhell now on to macattacks. It would be courteous at the actual Apple Retail Store to at least give you some pointers. You know just a little of something. The MacBook Pro great machine short on USB ports large drive is a must.
Leopard = about 8 gig. Its been one bumpy ride at least they give you that 90 days phone support, even if they do disconnect on occasion and accidentally hang up. Hopefully the waves will settle down. Does anyone else have these programs from Apple that eat hard drives? It seems like there is ever enough room just for apps. forget about keeping your data on one with the 120 gig. Sure would like to know if there are others whose hardrive was eaten alive.

Well, Garageband and iDVD are definitely monsters. I assume that's what he's referring to but I dunno what else might be coming installed these days.
I always wipe and install the OS fresh. I'll add anything else I actually want after that, thanks. There's an app called whatsize that's great for finding where the biggest piles of data are.
And, I gotta say that outside of the rare actual hardware problem, the people at these forums are far better at solving problems than the Apple techs...and free! But first, try to solve it yourself instead of just assuming you need help. You can usually answer your own Mac questions by first clearing your mind of all your windows brainwashing, and then asking yourself "what would be the easiest way to do this task?"

Dear aSeer - take a deep breath - now, what was the question?
A million seconds is 12 days.
A billion seconds is 31 years.
A trillion seconds is 31,688 years.
Hope and change could be forever.

No, my HDD was not eaten alive.
Alright, now, who wants to be transistorized?

Are you sure? Maybe it was eaten dead.

No no no, it's still alive. It's really only been nibbled at.

A laptop isn't the hardware you use for high intensity disk use. It is usable but it hasn't the physical space. An external harddrive is usually needed for lots of files. But you never said what exactly was going on.
You did have lots of backhand swipes at the platform with very little detail. More detail, what is the problem, Don't ramble.

For the price, mac laptops should have larger hard drives.
