I have lost 55 pounds.
About 8 months ago I became disgusted by my increasing gut and decided to drop some tonnage. As of yesterday I have officially over shot my original goal of 190lbs and now weight in at 185.
My plan is simplicity itself. I simply avoid all the fat I can and have mostly dropped red meat in favor of fish and chicken.
I feel pretty good, the heart burn problems I was having are completely gone, my feet never hurt now after a day working and best of all I get to walk around feeling superior to all the fat asses around me. Living in one of the fattest states in the union has really motivated me to not be one of the waddling masses.
At 50 years old I now weigh the same as I did in High School.

No, keeping it off will be easy because I did not go on a diet. I made a permanent change to the way I eat.
Big difference.. Diets fail, lifestyle changes are more durable.

Re: I have lost 55 pounds.
Nice work!
I had less to get rid of but I did finally drop 15 lbs down to 150. My process was a little more basic: Change when I eat and avoid soda in favor of water (with no soda after noon). For the most part, it is still the same number of calories with most of them being in the morning and noon times. Dinner has become a very small meal.
So far so good. I'm hoping to get down to 145 (maybe 140).

Well done! You should be very proud of yourself.
Now go out and write a weight-loss book, give it a fancy name, and make millions!

Congrads. It's not easy to loose weight. I've been trying to help my dad do it for a couple of years now. Long story short, he doesn't want to make the lifestyle change.
Good job

Try taking away his car(s) and hand him a bike. Worked for me.

Did you exercise too, Pariah? That's great that you lost so much weight. You must feel quite good right now. Congrats.

I've just lost 24 lbs (from 194 to 170) in 3 months.
But it's from my diabetic diet, so I really can't recommend it to anyone.

Still better than the AIDS diet and the Cancer diet, though...

Seeing as how, even with control, I'm MUCH more likely to have serious problems with my health.......not much better.....

My job running a printing press keeps me active all day so that helps a lot. I keep meaning to get back into weight lifting but keep putting it off.
But weights is the way I am going to go. My plan is this time next year I will be built like Henry Rollins, except taller.

How tall are you? And I guess, how tall is Henry Rollins?
He always seems huge, but it may have something to do with his general demeanor.

Re: I have lost 55 pounds.
Congrats! That's an awesome feeling. I've never really had a weight problem (6'7", 231lbs.) but I have always wanted to get rid of the pudge and feel more fit.
Well, I've gained weight, but it's muscle. I feel much more confident and actually have a much better self-opinion. I eat healthier, hit the gym 3x a week, cut down on coffee and sugars, and everything is so much better.
55 pounds is quite an accomplishment. Nice work-

My dad has needed to lose weight for a very long and he never did - now, his health isn't so good.

Re: I have lost 55 pounds.
I've been trying to lose weight for years, but it never seems to work. I had lost 60lbs while working at Ariens, but that was mainly because we only got two 10 min breaks during the day so I rarely got anything to eat. It felt nice to be thinner, but the weight came back slowly again. I probably have the same thyroid condition my mom had (my one sister and I are both stockier like she was). I just wish I could be like my dad and oldest sisters. Those bastards can eat all day and not gain a pound.
Good work Pariah! Here's to better living!

Henry is pretty short, like 5'6" or so. I'm 6ft.

I plan on gaining weight when I begin working out. The last time I started lifting I went from 175 to 210 in 6 months, but it was all muscle.
It felt good. I want my guns back.

I think I'm skinny b/c I'm too lazy to make food.
Never have easy food available in your house, that stuff is horrible.

i lost a bunch of weight, too, but it was because I got help for my hypothyroidism
I've been around 200 for the last couple of months, but I think I see it trending downward again (I hope!)
