They probably liked the story and didn't bother checking the credibility of the sources.
It's happened before. Several times.Could you do us a favor and show something supporting your theory that they didn't check their sources *this* time?
Cause, you know, pot...kettle...You want me to prove that they didn't do something?
I don't even know who their "sources" are.
The only source they name is Bork - who does not say that Gonzales is being turned down, but rather -He is considering his opportunities in law and business,” Mr. Bork said, “but after many years in public service he is considering his options carefully.”
Sounds to me like he is using his speaking income to allow himself to be extremely selective in who he gives the opportunity to hire him.

How often does an unnamed source prove to be wrong?
Don't know - but look at this case logically.
Remove your hate for the guy and look at his resume - lots of places would LOVE to have him and would pay him very well.
It's difficult to see when you dislike him so much - and that very likely may be why the journalist was so quick to believe the source knew what the smurf they were talking about, just like what happened with rathergate.
I think having all the bad press he has makes him unemployable.

Where do you get this bizarre belief that notorious individuals are always great to have on the payroll?

I don't have such a notion.

You'd think Ken Starr would give him a job at Pepperdine or something.
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.

I would like to see a list of the classes Gonzales would be teaching:

Disregarding the Constitution for Fun and Profit
Degrading Your Memory Prior to Congressional Hearings
What Is and Is Not Torture--a Hands-On Demonstration

He never shined in that field, had it not been for football he would likely have never done that.
