I've only seen a handful in these forums.

Re: Playstation Network Question
Owners, at least those who've posted. There isn't exactly a wealth of objective data to go by. I imagine far more own than post about it, esp. about playing games on them.
But I've included posts and news bits, and started threads many times the number of PS3 owners I've seen here. There just don't seem to be many. If there are, they're not exactly stoked about their gaming experiences.

Re: Playstation Network Question
I've got a PS3...my girlfriend gave it to me today as an early birthday present.
Any known way to to see it on the network so I can drop files to it from my Mac?
The only way I've been able to get files to it is to use a program called MediaLink that enables the Mac to be a Media Server via UPNP sharing. I'd like to do it through the finder.

Re: Playstation Network Question
PS3 hasn't been pushed hard for multiplayer, mainly it carries the same games as xbox for multiplayer, and with XBL being the behemoth it is people will lean towards that version if they own both, or choose a 360 over PS3 if they'lre looking for the online experience more than campaign or single player.
I have yet to try Warhawk or COD4 on PS3, so aside from resistance I can't get a grasp of how many actives we have. Though of course once Warhawk came the resistance population dropped a good chunk, though I can still usually find a game quickly today, though it's been awhile since I've been in a 16/16 match. My personal hesitation for buying online games for PS3 is that the PSN gamers will move from game to game as releases come out leaving only the newest say 3-5 games with a meaningful amount of players. Plus I have my computer for RTS/FPS.
By the end of this year once we have
GTA IV
MGS 4
Midnight Club LA
Killzone 2
Grant Turismo 5
Battlefield Bad Company
Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway
Resistance 2 (maybe, doubt they'll make it out that quick)
and the handful of other big ones coming we might have a thread here. And now that the 399 with wireless PS3 is out (and perhaps even cheaper coming?) The holidays will bring more owners and more game owning owners.
As to Autist's question
I just used a USB key to drop music to it, and you can burn cds/dvds and pull certain things off it. Video in mp4 format works. Also it can download things from webpages, such as if you find the video of Hendrix at woodstock on google video they have an option to download as PSP or iPod format. (either will work really).
Correct me if I'm wrong fellow PlayStationPlayers on any of the above

Just funny that in this day and age with gigabit pretty much standard on PCs, 3G cell phones and bigger than T1 pipes in homes that the earliest form of file sharing is alive and well.

So, is there a better way (to copy from the Finder), or just use UPNP from the PS3?

Re: Playstation Network Question
Just pull it through from the PS3. Easier and usually a little faster than trying to push. MY friend stayed with me over the holidays, and we used EyeConnect to do UPNP from my macs to his PS3 and it worked flawlessly. Anything that chugged too hard on a stream, we just copied to the PS3.
To copy instead of opening as a stream, select what you want in the XMB, then press triangle and choose Copy to PS3.

Re: Playstation Network Question
Thanks, everyone. Especially MacZimiZer and Deadguy.
UPNP is the way to go then. I paid the $20 to get MediaLink.

Re: Playstation Network Question
I find that my roomate and I really use the PS3 as the much-touted "media centre." I never thought that I'd actually run into a system where this was possible, but with our movies, TV shows, music, and the browser on the system it really has made life much easier.
It's absolutely worth keeping your media on the PS3. I shudder to say this, but... good going, Sony.
I do not think that word means what you think it means.

I'm just waiting until PS3 can handle playing AdultSwim videos and such (if ever). It never would run a stage6 (divx) movie either. Though oddly on both stage6 and adultswim it shows the preview image for the video but won't play it correctly, same happens at southparkzone.com

Re: Playstation Network Question
Strange. I haven't had any problems with it, but I don't do too much online video watching. I'm also really impressed with its photo-browsing feature; the catch there is that you have to import and export things. We just run an old external hard drive to swap data back and forth. The file-browsing and harvesting methods that it uses are pretty slick.
I do not think that word means what you think it means.
