The MacMenace thread
To confirm your configuration, open up the "client.cfg" file with TextEdit.
Here's mine for an Intel iMac:
[settings]
username=Nefarious_Bidding
team=18
passkey=
bigpackets=big
machineid=1
local=11
[http]
active=no
host=
port=
user=
pass=
[core]
checkpoint=5
Other types of machines will have slight variations.

Re: The MacMenace thread
Thanks, I found it. It appears I'm on the right team:
Code:
[settings] username=Macmenace team=18 passkey= bigpackets=big machineid=1 [http] active=no host= port= user= pass= [core] checkpoint=5
I guess I'm just not on the website yet.

Re: The MacMenace thread
Team member MouthofSauron is also reporting a lack of points.
With a MacPro, you should be on the board in 3 days, tops, assuming daytime running only.
The "FAHlog.txt" file is worth looking at ... Post that here. Worth looking at.

Your protein should finish tomorrow. It just depends on how many hours of crunching you're going to do per day.

Re: The MacMenace thread
So--- is this a new version of FaH?
what's different (new) about this?
I can't seem to find a way to check the current running version on my Intel mac, but those screenshots look exactly the same as what I've been running since January.

Some of us might have been forced to upgrade to a slightly different version.
As long as its you're producing, no worries.

MacMenace, I sent you an email requesting that you repost your FAHlog.txt file.
You're not on the statistics board yet.

I sent you an e-mail with the log. Yeah, I've noticed something is amiss. I have a lot of file I/O errors in my log.

Re: The MacMenace thread
Please post a copy of the CPU action of Activity Monitor for all processes containing an "f".
I am wondering if you have an extra copy of folding running. Or are 2 copies allowed on Mac Pro's ?
Meanwhile, I am forwarding the log file to Artemis.
One problem, not our fault, is that a protein checksum was damaged. So, folding downloaded a new protein.

It is possible to run two copies of the SMP client given that you have 8-cores (4 cores per client). The catch is that the two clients need to be in two separate directories and using the -local flag.
I haven't used Stanford's new installer. I'm not sure how or if it handles two clients.

Run your H/W diagnostics. Lots of I/O errors may be indicative of a larger problem. Also, Launch DiskUtility and verify the SMART status of each drive.

The best way to run two clients with the new installer for my machines was to use the command line version. I installed in ~/Library/.fah1 and ~/Library/.fah2. Seems to be working fine for me.

I just ran the Disk Utility's Verify Disk and Repair test and they both went fine. Where can I verify the SMART status of my drive?

In Disk Utility, click on the individual drives, not the volumes.

Re: The MacMenace thread
Are you using the command line version, or the one with the System Preference and GUI?

You might should also check your crontab if you have ever used another installer. Post the ouput from this command:
Code:
crontab -l
