Re: How COOL are you?
I notice a lot of our favorite bands are fairly recent bands. Doesn't anyone have any favorite bands that the feel are timeless? I know the Smashing Pumkins and Sneaker Pimps will always be timeless for me. And certain groups like the Rolling Stones and dudes like Neil Young will always be timeless. So what I'm trying to say is are there any bands that you'll still be listening to in 20 years?
I think the timeless bands from our times will be Nirvana, Smashing Pumkins, Blur, Metallica (Which im not a fan of) and maybe Oasis, Radiohead, the Foo Fighters and Coldplay.

Re: How COOL are you?
Ooohhh, I forgot Blur. Except for "Song 2," they aren't really popular in the states.... but they own! I am so happy I got tickets for a concert in May...
Lucky bastard, I really want to see blur again its been over 5 years since I saw them. As you said they weren't overly popular here in North America other than Song 2, which is very sad because that really isn't their sound at all (The only other song that is close to being as heavy that I can think of is M.O.R.). Funyn how many people list Coldplay as one of their favorite bands, but have no idea who Blur or Travis are. I'm trying to scrape up enough money to see Blur in California next month as they never play on this side of the puddle. Im looking forward to the ever delayed the new album, but until then "Modern Life is Rubish" and "the Great Escape" will have to tide me over.

Blur, Oasis, Foo Fighters and Coldplay I could never consider timeless. They have a sound which dates them within a few years. Timeless, I consider to be something that not only can you always enjoy, but always sounds fresh and not retro. Like how you can listen to Tom Petty over 30 years of his career, and he always sounds like Tom Petty. Not a 70s or 80s or 90s guy, but Tom Petty.
I still believe in liberalism today as much as I ever did, but, oh, there was a happy time when I believed in liberals.

Re: How COOL are you?
I agree with TallGeese on the concept of timeless bands. These are a few ...... I don't really think you can call a band timeless unless its been around for a few, which is why a band like coldplay cannot be considered...but i dunno really
Weezer
AC/DC
U2
Neil Young
these are all the same, for the most part. sure, neil young has undergone some changes, but you can always tell a neil young song, from his softer stuff to harder stuff.
Not Timeless:
Spears
Backstreet boys
Most of pop

LMAO!
Those groups are my favorite as I have more of their stuff (mainly Vinyl) than any others I like. My MP3 collection numbers in the 70+ GB range. Good times.
