Best air card/cell modem for heavy internet use?
I'm a current at&t customer (iPhone) and a former Sprint customer. My only internet connection options at my house are dial-up, cellular, and satellite. Who do you think is more lenient with heavy use with the cellular networks? Do you think at&t would cut me more slack since I'm already paying them $60 a month (including $20 for iPhone data)? at&t has a stated limit of 5GB a month. I did some adding and I download about 13GB a month in just podcasts! The girls at the retail store told me that they will cancel your service if you have three consecutive months over the limit. It looks to me like Sprint is more active and progressive with what they offer and promote. Sprint claims "Unlimited" data for $60 and I couldn't find a solid reference to their 'super secret' limit. I've also heard a lot of good things about the EV-DO cards and service.

I'd go EV-DO, as that is what i believe I have (I go through Explorenet which doesn't talk about the tech, but I believe this is EVDO due to 3.1 top speed compared to a 7 something top modem that we are out of range of.
Thanks for clicking.

The only references for Explorenet I found were for satellite access? Is that what you are talking about?

That is very nifty! Wish we could get something like that around here. Maybe we will be saved when they release our analog television spectrum to new uses?

Am I really that far ahead of the curve? Nobody out there using a cellular air card for internet service?

Re: Best air card/cell modem for heavy internet use?
I'm using the USBConnect 881 on AT&T (manufactured by Sierra Wireless) and love it. I consistently get 1500/420 on it and it works great using the Sierra Watcher (kind of like AT&T Connection Manager) application in OS X.
All are going to have a soft-cap of around 5GB. Alltel currently does not but may in the future.

Re: Best air card/cell modem for heavy internet use?
I haven't been able to find a reference in Sprint's terms of service about a soft-cap. They are still advertising their $60 per month plan as 'unlimited'. at&t and Verizon clearly state in their ads of their 5GB limit.
