Are iMacs Loud & put out alot of Heat ?
my G4 tower is loud,
i did not bother with the free fan replacement
the tower with the monitor,
together prolly put out 1.7 million btu's

My iMac is very quiet. I too had an MDD G4. It was a "wind tunnel" before the fan replacement, and still quite loud after the fan replacement. I noticed the sound of the G4 all the time when it was on. The iMac, I almost never notice the sound.
As far as heat, there is a strip across the top/back for ventilation. It is warm during normal use, and hot during peak usage (video encoding). I wouldn't say that the machine overall is "hot".

Hey, Cz, do you know if the MacBook Pros are hot and noisy? I think I'm gettin' the next version.

The fans kick in pretty loud if you start stressing the whole system like playing games or doing any sort of processor intensive functions like rendering, video encoding, etc etc.

Two new iMacs and one pro in my household. None of them are loud or hot.
