She wouldn't be asked to serve as veep, and she wouldn't accept. Ain't gonna happen. Hell even if it might have been possible at one point, she's surely burned her bridges with the Obama camp by now.

Were O'Bama to offer Clinton the VP spot, regardless of her acceptance or refusal, it would be an very crassly cynical move on his part. A vote loser.

"You can declare yourself anything, but if you don't have the votes, it doesn't matter," Clinton said Monday...

I thought he already HAD the votes.

Apparently, she's talking about those screwed up Mich and Fla votes.

Well, technically he doesn't have the votes yet. But in reality it's all over but the Klintonesque bitch-whining.

We are already more than halfway into May, and the only flak the Dems have given McCain is via DNC funded ads. It's about time the actual candidates start talking about it.

Instead of moaning that Obama is overreaching by going on the attack against McCain, perhaps Clinton should consider doing it as well. As it  stands, he is doing what needs to be done, while Clinton comes off like a whiny hiney.

Regardless of what Hillary says, this was a brilliant move by the Obama campaign. It really gives the perception of inevitability without being crass or arrogant. At this point, that perception is likely to become reality. The supers will have to come up with a VERY good excuse to hand Hillary the nomination. Sure, the Clintons could start sliding fat envelopes full of bills across limo seats, but that's not going to be easy to hand wave.

Re: It's official: Hillary Clinton is delusional

I think maybe Hillary's staying in the race because of rumors of this:

source

* note source is from some very unhinged HillaryLand people, so undoubtedly there's an 89% chance this is a sign of the "last throes" for them and is just made up

Today, on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Barack Obama lost his cool, calling names and making unspecified threats. Why? Ostensibly, it’s because the Tennessee Republican Party issued an Internet video featuring Michelle Obama saying she’s proud of being an American only because her husband is running for president. Well, yes, we all heard that awhile ago.

But the real reason for Obama’s extraordinary freakout is that he fears the release of the videotape, reported here, of Michelle Obama in the pulpit of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church railing against “whitey.” And we don’t mean Whitey Ford. Four Republican sources have told me that the tape exists. I’ve also been informed that Karl Rove and his allies have a copy of it and are using it to raise funds for independent expenditure groups. The tape, I’m told, will be disclosed as the GOP October Surprise. It’s a ticking time bomb.

And I’ve learned that a right-wing Republican billionaire has put a $1 million bounty on the video. He doesn’t want John McCain to win, like a number of conservatives, and thinks Obama is a pathetically weak candidate. The billionaire wants that video released now.

Obama, speaking on ABC’s “Good Morning America” showed fear through his name-calling: “If they think that they’re gonna try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because, that I find unacceptable. … The notion that you start attacking my wife or my family — you know, Michelle is the most honest, the best person I know. She is one of the most caring people I know. She loves this country. And for them to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her I think is … just low class.”

Does Obama have a copy of the “whitey” video? We know that he knows that his wife knows. The video really does exist. If we have to wait until October to see it, Obama might explode before then from the tension.

I don't think he "freaked out", I think he was defending his wife. That makes him a decent husband, not a nutball. If someone started going after my wife, I would have probably been less diplomatic. If I had the power and money, I'd hire investigators to look into the lives of those guys and their wives, just to see if any dirt came to light. I would be willing to bet they might not be so willing to attack if their own lil darlin' turned out to have some skeletons in the closet.

Obama's right, spouses should be off limits, unless there is direct evidence that their actions are important or actionable.

As far as the tape is concerned, I'd have to see it, in context, to make a judgement. Right now, it's level of authenticity is about the same as the claims that Barack accepted oral sex from a man in a limo - about zero.

I can't help but think footage like that would have come out by now if it really did exist.

I would tend to agree, but given that they seem to think Clinton is the stronger candidate, maybe they are "helping" Obama by holding the tape until he gets the nod. After all, at this point the tape would do more good than harm to the Dems, since this could give the supers an excuse to nominate Hillary.

I suspect that if it does exist, it will come out after the Democratic primaries are officially over.

No, I think the Repubbies consider Hillary the weaker candidate. I think they'd have loved to campaign against her. So much dark meat to chew on! Er, so to speak.

Oh great: Hillary says she's perfectly willing to continue the fight right into the convention

Hillary Rodham Clinton says she is willing to take her fight to seat Florida and Michigan delegates to the convention if the two states want to go that far. In an interview with The Associated Press, Clinton was asked whether she would support the states if they continue the fight.

The presidential candidate said Wednesday, "Yes I will. I will, because I feel very strongly about this."

Even if Florida and Michigan got their delegates seated at the convention, it would bring Clinton and Obama to roughly even.

Uh... "roughly even" is what she wants. That way she can use the mythical Clintonian leverage to drag things her way.

All you Americans out there... how would you like a Clinton/McCain choice on the upcoming ballot?  Not pretty, huh?

After 2000, and then 2004, I am already pretty irritated with the Democratic party. If they seat delegates from either of those states without a revote, it will be an absurd slap in the face to everyone else. Shoot, Clinton was the only "person" on the ballot in MI, which is interesting given that she still only managed to get 60% or so. I *might* could see Florida, had all the candidates not been told ahead of time that the states were going to be excluded, and had everyone not signed off on it. Even though both the front runners were on the ballot, no one campaigned a great deal - BECAUSE THEY WERE TOLD THE STATES WEREN'T GOING TO SEAT DELEGATES.

I think they should be sent home as a message to those considering such an unwise course of action in the future. It has nothing to do with either Clinton or Obama, but instead has to do with the inherent unfairness of seating delegates from those states after all that has happened.

Frankly, I suspect the Clintons will try to buy their way out of it, I just hope that the Democratic party doesn't accept it.

Buy their way out? With what? The Clinton campaign is flat broke. Indeed tens of millions in debt.

Me, I find myself wondering what's spurring the continued support of Hillary. I mean take away the fact that she's a woman, and what do you have? What about her policies, experience and platform make her attractive?

The campaign is broke, but the Clintons are not. At least not yet.

Re: It's official: Hillary Clinton is delusional

Here's an interesting find - one someone should forward to Hillary's campaign:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/02/us/po … wanted=all

PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Sept. 1 — Three of the major Democratic presidential candidates on Saturday pledged not to campaign in Florida, Michigan and other states trying to leapfrog the 2008 primary calendar, a move that solidified the importance of the opening contests of Iowa and New Hampshire.

Hours after Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina agreed to sign a loyalty pledge put forward by party officials in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York followed suit. The decision seemed to dash any hopes of Mrs. Clinton relying on a strong showing in Florida as a springboard to the nomination.

I hope someone brings it up, because it's beginning to look like some people are thinking about backing away on this commitment. Given all three of the front-runners signed on, I think it should be a done deal. No MI or FL delegates.

It isn't really important--the "pledge" was simply not to campaign.
