MacBook Air problems?
I'm thinking of adding an MBA to my arsenal of Macs and am looking for feedback from current owners.
I know when the MacBook was first introduced, users reported numerous problems with them. I have seen absolutely no postings about MBA problems and am hoping that this is because owners are just deliriously delighted with them.
Let me know if this is so.

i dont own one but i do use a work issued one, and it is slow as hell. a basic macbook is faster MUCH faster. other than that it has been working fine with the leppard wifi hiccup, and lack of optical it s a damn sexy laptop.

Re: MacBook Air problems?
They aren't that slow. People keep saying "OMG MBA SLOW!!!oneoneoen" but it isn't. Is it going to be as fast as any number of machines? No, but that doesn't mean it will be glacially slow. Is the laptop limited to some degree? Of course, it's a subnotebook. It is closer to a real laptop than a lot of other subnotebooks I've seen, though. The only problem with the MBA is some of them the CPU goes nuts which results in the fans kicking up to 6krpm, reportedly. They'll probably fix that with a firmware update.

BTW some retailers bundle the optical drive.
I saw a bundle in either BB or FS, but neither show it online, so look around.
Thanks for clicking.

Re: MacBook Air problems?
I have a horror story to share. I travel a lot and the MBA was (is?) the perfect solution for me. I don't have any real problems with the specifications, and don't use an optical drive, so that is a moot point. However, I did have a problem while on the road last week. I was in my hotel room reading the NY Times and went to read one of the op-ed columns. When I clicked on, the screen went black and the MBA shut down. I took it two Apple Stores, and the problem was a logic board. They fixed the problem in about two hours, but this is worrying for the computer is only two months old.

There's the kicker. Can anything which takes up the same footprint of a full notebook (such as the MacBook) really be considered a subnotebook?
Is it really more than a crippled notebook? They're not bad machines per se, but there's really no distinct advantage over the thicker sibling. Take one on an airplane, and it will need the same space as a MacBook.
Bring the screen real estate down to twelve inches.
