Dented mesh speaker cover on G4 PowerBook
Hi all. I accidentally dropped something on my PB's right speaker and it dented the perforated aluminum mesh. I thought it would be as easy as removing the top case and bending it back, but a quick trip to ifixit.com got me thinking otherwise.
In their top case tutorial, it doesn't appear that I will have access to the mesh area of the case, instead just the underside of the speakers. I'm not that skilled with hardware repair, so I'm hesitant to do the speaker install tutorial (it requires removing the logic board and some other stuff I'm not comfortable doing).
I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me which one of those ifixit guides will grant me access to the underside of the right hand side speaker mesh on a 15" G4 PowerBook. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

And if you remove the top case (An easy operation. just be grounded.) you will have access directly to the mesh. just watch out for the power button.

It's a 1.33 GHz. Forgive the dim question, how do I ensure that I'm grounded? Bare feet?

Re: Dented mesh speaker cover on G4 PowerBook
sit down at the powerbook and during the entire operation do not get up and move around. before you touch any electronics (which you don't really need to during this), touch something that is grounded in the powerbook. like a screw-head. careful not to touch the logic board when unplugging the top-case. follow the iFixit instructions.
And you're good.

I'm picturing a slide hammer. Look it up.
...obviously on a much smaller than standard scale.
