Those were good phones but just a little less connected 24/7 like a borg wouldn't kill them.

I was actually serious. I don't have a cell phone and I got one of those off eBay for my land line.

I was making a statement about how this phone is becoming the focus at apple, and that they need to get back to business. meaning spread the love and focus back on their great software and hardware, both professional and consumer based.

Apple likes staying ahead of the curve, and obviously the iPhone is way more than a phone, it is the start of a new mobile computing platform.  Just look at what it can do with graphics and documents at this point already.  I know plenty of people who have to carry a laptop everywhere they go because of their job.  Usually just so they can get email, or because someone might send them a spreadsheet they need to fill in data or make a correction in.  Small tasks that surely don't warrant carrying around a full laptop.  Some would say that's why there is a growing market of subnotebooks like the Eee.  I say Apple's answer to that market is Mobile OS X and that they are right to put so much effort into it.

Besides that, the Mac is in a very good place right now and I think the plan of attack with Snow Leopard, refining and stabilizing the core of the OS is the right thing to do.  They're keeping up with the hardware advances and the needs of most users.

Mobile Me! Thank you, I've been aching for such a program for so long. I can't wait to find out more about the program. Hopefully you can use 3rd party email addresses.

Well, for the email portion you can already do that with any IMAP account (which mac.com addresses are) capable of Push. So, GMail, AOL/AIM, Yahoo! (I think), etc. are capable of that.

It is the address book and calendar push capability that I am really happy about. I am so sick of the sync issues I have with my Treo. And then when it does work I also forget to sync it most of the time. I absolutely LOVE the idea of never having to connect my phone to my computer but still have it completely up to date. I see iPhones in the future of me and my wife. smile

Yeah it is starting to look like some of the rumor mongers are more innovative than apple these days.

Seriously? The rumor mongers are more innovative??? What did they actually create besides and idea for something?

Let me see how this works. I want a computer with the dimensions of the iPhone that I can use to check my mail, etc. while on the go. However, when I press a button I want it to transform into a 17" MBP. Man, I am sooooooooo much more innovative than Apple. They suck!!! </sarcasm>

Re: WWDC Keynote Live Blog

I think one of the big things that hasn't been mentioned is the scalable, centralized Push system that is available to ALL third party applications via Apple's servers, thus solving the no background processes problem.

I can understand the impulse, I've got one of those as wall model hanging in my kitchen, but nowadays you keep running into the brick wall of needing touch-tone input (like reporting a power outage). I finally hung a Sony touch-tone phone on the wall next to it.

And let's not forget how annoying it can be dialing a long distance number on one of those things!!!

I agree with the sentiment though about those phones being well built. I would say that you can get the same type of phone in a touch-tone model and have the best of both worlds.

Of course  you would want one a little bit newer than the one shown above so that you could have the * and # keys as well wink

Yeah and we all know how hard it is to carry around a MacBook Air.

The MacBook Air may be light compared to other laptops but it is not even on the same planet when compared to how easy it is to carry a phone around. Seriously, think about what you are saying.
