Hooking up Airport Express n to b/g network
I searched the forum for this answer, but came up empty. I have a new
Airport Express that I'm trying to hook up to my wireless network. My
current router is a Netgear model about a year old, but it only transmits
b/g. When running the Airport Utility the Express doesn't show up in the
initial scan for hardware. The Express is working correctly, as I can
see it with my iPod Touch. I'm working through Windows XP SP2.
I have three questions:
1) Out of the box is the Airport Express only able to see n transmissions?
2) Can I attach the Express via ethernet cable and then run Airport Utility
to configure the Express if indeed it only sees n transmissions out of the box?
3) Is it necessary to get onto the Express' out of the box network before
running Airport Utility, or should this matter?
Thanks in advance. In return I offer answers to prepress questions

OK,
After doing some more research I understand
why I'm getting no bites on this. I'll post back
when I find an answer, whatever it may be.

Re: Hooking up Airport Express n to b/g network
It is not configured to see only "n" out of the box, which is evidenced by the fact that your touch sees it. The iPod Touch does not have "n" capability. You should be able to see a separate airport network from your PC, connect to that and run the config utility. After that has been run, it will have you reset it, when it comes back up assuming you configured it properly it should connect to your network and you should be able to see it while connected to your own wireless network. I would recommend connecting it via ethernet permanently though, to improve performance. If it's not possible, that's ok, it should work fine but you may experience small dropouts while streaming audio every once in a while. It depends on the nature of the network you have set up. Hope this helps.
