Re: New Versions of iTouch!?!
so yesterday maclife posted a article on the diminishing itouch versions available. so i think i might just get a ipod to last me until the new itouch versions come out around september or later. Should i try and buy a ipod off one of my friends or from the store and what kind?

Re: New Versions of iTouch!?!
if you are just trying to "get by" pick up a 4Gb Nano (they can be had at the apple refurb store for as low as 100$) or a shuffle.

Yeah, actually, the extra $100 up front for the iPod Touch doesn't seem so bad if that is all it costs not to be burdened by a cell phone. Seriously, all I'd use a cell phone for is to tell telemarketers it is bad enough they harass me on my land line 5-10 times per day and to smurf off and stop calling me on my cell phone too and costing me money. Not having to put up with that is worth something to me, maybe even $100. I'll have to give that some thought.
I have had a cell phone for the last 9 years and I have never got a telemarketer call.
I am not proud of this but I was a telemarketer briefly, for ~2 months. If a phone number exists, listed or unlisted, land line or cell phone, telemarketers will find it and call it. Hell, I used to connect to other telemarketers a couple of times per shift. Several times per shift the person on the other end would let me know I (ie, the auto-dial dingus) had reached them on their cell phone and please don't do so again. I am not ashamed to say I was fired for incompetence, but whatever.

test, if you are in the US you can always put your phone numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry. Note that because of a change in the laws you no longer have to re-register after a couple of years: any number so registered is on this registry permanently. I did file a complaint about those above calls here and those calls stopped shortly afterwards.
I am in Canada. So far as I know there is no do not call thing here. The place I worked did have a policy where if a person asked us not to call them again we would flag their number for removal from the database. I am fairly sure this is how most do not call stuff is handled here - telemarketers will keep calling until you tell them not to and they only stop then as a public relations thing, not because there is any legal requirement to stop.
Patience is a virtue of the weak for it makes them stand still long enough for the strong to crush them with ease.
