Best/Newest Intel Graphics Driver for MacBook?

Hi,

I am trying to play Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 using Windows XP on my MacBook. When I run the game I get the warning that my video card does not have the specifications for Vertex/Pixel Shader 1.x. I did a little snooping on Goggle to see what others said about playing Pro Evo 2008 on computers with the Intel 945 Express Integrated Graphics system. A few said that the newest drivers from Intel's site did the trick. I tried to find the drivers on Intel's site. I downloaded and installed what I thought would update my driver but it didn't seem to do anything and I still get the same warning. What driver should I download and where should I download it? After downloading it, do I need to disable to older driver and enable the new driver (does the updater not do this automatically?)?

I can still play the game, I am just forced to play it with the lowest level (very ugly)video settings. Would new drivers allow me to play the game at better settings or is the integrated video chip in the MacBook really just that bad?

I am clueless when it comes to drivers, video cards and Windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Scott

What driver version did you get & install?

Re: Best/Newest Intel Graphics Driver for MacBook?

I ran the intel chipset identification software to figure out which specific chipset the MacBook has. This software told me the MacBook has the "Mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Chipsets or Intel(R) 945GT Express Chipset.

I was on this page on Intel's website. Since the identifier software said that the MacBook had a chipset not listed on that page or the GT, I downloaded the graphics driver and chipset installation software for the 945GT. From what I could tell, running these installers did not do anything. Any suggestions? Could someone point me towards the URL of the driver that I should be installing for the MacBook?

Thanks again,

-Scott

Don't know if you need the 'Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility,' but there is one. Otherwise Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family (pick your OS) seems to be the place.

Haven't used Intel Integrated graphics, so can't say much more than that this should support DX8.0/8.1, which is the important part of the Shader 1.x reference. Might be a bit slow &/or buggy, but work above minimum settings.

Yeah, that's the same driver that I already downloaded so no changes there. Would downloading a new and or different version of directx make a difference? What version should I get?

Thanks again,

Re: Best/Newest Intel Graphics Driver for MacBook?

It probably won't help, but stranger things've happened. You want the latest build of DX9.0c, from June 6.

Top of page.

DirectX End-User Runtime

The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX — the core Windows® technology that drives high-speed multimedia and games on the PC.
