Online ordering of lobsters and steaks.
I just ordered 8, 24oz lobster tail, 4 aged prime ny strip steaks and a bunch of alaskan king crab legs, about 6 lbs worth.
Hoping to see how good this turns out and how fresh all this tastes after being cooked. My family is having the fathers day BBQ at my place, so I am going to be serving up a storm.
Has anyone else ever ordered foods like this online? What are your thoughts on mail order prime foods?

Re: Online ordering of lobsters and steaks.
I had a live lobster from the East coast shipped to the West coast, and it arrived alive and tasty.
Its all in how its shipped... just make sure it gets delivered on time, and the dry ice/freeze packs should keep things cool enough to be edible and awesome.
From what I can tell, either way, you're screwed. Bad people are punished by society's laws, and good people are punished by Murphy's Law.

I order frozen rats and mice online all the time.
They pack it very will, with insulation going around the whole thing and plenty of dry ice.
I can't imagine them being less careful with food for people.
It's fun to drop pieces of the dry ice in the toilet.

Meh. It'll go up the vent with the rest of the sewer gas. I like dropping it in the sink with a bunch of dish soap. Smoky bubbles!
I ordered a crapload of meat from omaha steaks; a whole freezer full for 50 bucks. It was OK, plenty fresh, just not nearly as good as the stuff I get down the street and not really that much cheaper. Probly won't order again

Here are 6 tails I received today.
I didn't bother taking pictures of the steaks, everyone knows what steaks look like.

Re: Online ordering of lobsters and steaks.
www.livelob.com
I started doing food photography for them, so I got 50% discounts on anything on their catalogue and website. They also have way larger tails not listed on their site, but some weird new england states law says they are not allowed to have them posted on the site on anything that weighs more than 24oz or something. You'd have to call in and ask for specials.
Either way, a 24oz lobster tail is very large. I think I want to order 6 lbs of alaskan king crab legs.

Very very nice! Beats having to cook 3 or 4 tails for what you can get in one.
