What are you thinking? Ads instead of the MacLife homepage?

There's no MacLife Site forum, so this is the best place I could think of.
When ariving to the homepage, much of the time these days, I'm taken to an ad page.
I can understand it happening when clicking through to a story page, blog page, or even the forums. You're a magazine. Your job is to turn a profit or there is no job, and that is understood, however forcing visitors through an ad spot to get to a website homepage is just bad practice. roll

Are you encountering an ad as the first page when you come to the site?

Yes.

BTW, I'm on FF3... I'll test a bit later with FF2 and Safari.
I mean, by your question, I get the impression this site behavior isn't intentional?

Antonio, you might have something on your Mac which is causing this behavior. I'm not getting any such ads going to the MacLife home page using either Firefox 3 or Internet Explorer 6 on a Windows XP machine.

Yeah, I was thinking about that, especially with a person here or there having some issues since updating to FF3, but it has occurred once on my iPhone.

It hasn't happened for a little while now, which is also making me think it's not my machine.

Weirdness.

Edited: 'cause I seem to have the entire "i before e" thing backward.

I'll have the internet wizards double check the settings of the interstitial ad. Just in case.

Cool.
BTW, it did it again last night when I checked the site on my iPhone.

Yeah, I get the ad thing every so often as well. Like what the NYTimes and IGN do.

I've dealt with it as well, but I thought it was a new feature, not a bug.

I can't recall it ever happening to me before.

Then again, I generally just go directly to the forums, and rarely look at the rest of the site.
