User, you're running DX thru Boot Camp in D3D, right? OpenGL is not as good, unless you're trying out TruForm, which I'm sure you're not.

As for speed, perhaps enabling curved surfaces would induce some needed performance penalty as well as improving the overall look.

Yes. BC in XP on a 2.4 Ghz 20" iMac.

I looked at the options and I thought I had all the switches thrown to full. Is what you are talking about a command line advanced option? I have a vague memory of that being the case.

You can change the renderer by clicking the Safe Mode version of the program (there's an in-game setting but it doesn't always work).  If it is a driver issue (I suspect it is), try updating your BootCamp.  If you're at the latest version, you can also use ATi's official drivers (which are almost definitely newer) with the help of Mobility Modder.  If none of that works, Cider will.

Close. Easiest is thru the DeusEx.cg file in /System...

[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
WindowedViewportX=640
WindowedViewportY=480
WindowedColorBits=32
FullscreenViewportX=1680
FullscreenViewportY=1050
FullscreenColorBits=32
Brightness=0.600000
MipFactor=1.000000
UseDirectDraw=True
UseJoystick=False
CaptureMouse=True
StartupFullscreen=True
CurvedSurfaces=True
ScreenFlashes=True
...

DX was built on a 'stretched' Unreal engine, rather than UT's version. Sweeney swore to never put that option in again after too many enabled it, forgot, and suffered poor performance without knowing why. The option was hidden in later iterations.

I haven't adjusted brightness, gamma etc. as I didn't play, just confirm good running. Might need a tweak or two.

OK, thanks, I'll check it out. I haven't tried too awful hard as I'm still spending too much of my time in the modded STALKER universe. I played through Doos many many times and I could run those levels in my sleep.

I hope most reading this know that many DOS games already run under XP in DOS emu mode.

The trickiest generally aren't the earliest, but those from the mid-90s- sound cards often were very finicky about resource allocation (IRQs and DMAs). Late '80s- early '90s games without (or with only rudimentary) sound support fare the best.

For The Dos i love and the games i can't forget.there for awhile i thought i was Fu&*ed Becouse of PCI Sound Card That No Longer Suported DOS,Just Dos Mode Till I Found the Sound Blaster LIVE! Dos Drivers from A Mame Arcard emu Page.i Did Start Up The Fusion Emu And Smiled Cuz it had sound again,right now i am playing FMV games for dos<full motion Vidio>,"Under A Killing Moon" is what i am on right now,i already whipped "Night trap And D" oh the point was on my tv computer my doughter loves Rampaging Red Necks..she likes killing chickens:)

WTF was that.

Oh and if I had a daughter I wouldn't encourage her to be involved with any red necks. ESPECIALLY rampaging ones.

Re: Remember all those DOS games you wanted to play?

Just so you know, most people here don't have an issue with abandonware and lots probably don't even care about piracy.  It's for the protection of the site and its members that we don't discuss how to share copyright materials illegally

And you might here from the mods about dodging the censor bot.  Just swear if you have to.  We're all free to turn off the filter in our accounts.

Lastly, I'm almost positive mrreet2001 was making a joke.  Lay off the steroids.
