MobileMe Goes Live Wednesday
InformationWeek is reporting MobileMe's arrival late tomorrow. Looking forward to playing with it this weekend.

Re: MobileMe Goes Live Wednesday
i don't understand this.
what's the stinking point of making it live on wednesday when no one can really use it (all the neat Push functionality) until Friday morning?
honestly, if you dig around a bit (namely, front page of macrumors.com or appleinsider.com or gizmodo.com), its already fully functional for those who have somehow gotten their grubby hands on a copy of 2.0 software.
don't get me wrong; the sooner the better, i say.
suck it, trebek.

Re: MobileMe Goes Live Wednesday
The other thing I've been wondering about is whether Mail, Safari, iCal, etc., will need updates to use push syncing.

Nice! Can't wait to use the revamped Gallery and the iDisk. And the whole new interface, really.

Re: MobileMe Goes Live Wednesday
mmm. i see.
in other news...
i came across a copy of iPhone 2.0 (and iTunes 7.7) last night. DL'ed it, installed... it took awhile, but it finally went.
its nice. the .Mac/MobileMe push email is already functional and its wonderful. really really great.
however, i don't believe the push Calendars/Contacts/Bookmarks are functional yet. i've tried every which way to get them going, but nothing happens. sad face.
i suppose if all of it goes live TONIGHT, it may all start working, and THAT will be cause for celebration.
suck it, trebek.

MobileMe is not up and running.
Apple has a full blown smurf on their hands right now. they should've been ready for this, and it seems they're not.
most attempts to log in or navigate to me.com are redirected to the marketing "About MobileMe" page. even if one is able to log in, one has at most about 2 minutes until the system collapses and you're redirected to the "About" page. people are reporting signing up and entering credit card info and BOOM nothing.
personally, i was able to get in once, but it lasted (like i said) about two minutes. i'm also not able to sign in to MobileMe prefs via the System Prefs app. i keep getting an error message stating i've entered an invalid username and/or password. as a loyal member since the iTools days back in 2001, and someone who's been very VERY excited about this changeover, i am astoundingly disappointed.
all that said...
all te fancy Push stuff is working now: mail, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, but i've nowhere to Push it to, as iCal, Address Book, and Safari can't sync with the MobileMe cloud for the System Prefs issue.
as another note, Apple shut down the .Mac/MobileMe support discussions for a length of time because they were so flooded.

Currently www.me.com is down and takes you back to Apple's MobileMe product page. I haven't made it home yet but when I left this morning, I couldn't log into my iDisk. I'm thinking between the iPhone 2.0 software update, the Apps Store, the 3G iPhone, iTunes 7.7 and MobileMe, Apple may have bit off a little more than they can chew.
I'm hoping everything is good by Monday.

Re: MobileMe Goes Live Wednesday
Your post about it being 'live' was perfectly timed. Anyway I spent yesterday morning mirroring my important web pages onto my google domain. I had to literally recode the HTML from the iWeb generated stuff. (I have only 2 important pages.) I've haven't got around to redirecting my google domain to the apple hosted domain - but I bet that is down now anyway.

Re: MobileMe Goes Live Wednesday
Maybe they're being overloaded? I was able to log in today, and it was pretty slow, but now I can't again. I checked out the new iDisk - it's pretty nifty, and looks just like Finder. The file sharing/email feature with the files doesn't work yet, though (there was no option for that, as shown in the video)

Re: MobileMe Goes Live Wednesday
I've been waiting for the last few minutes for the "Account Details" page to load.
But at least my email has worked throughout the confusion. And once the dust settles, I'll be able to use a one-character-shorter email address. (I wonder... will Apple start offering m.com email in another eight and a half years?)
