Most Democrats think that the war in Iraq is hardly reasonable.

By his voting record that seems to be the case - but many of his recent statements and the way he voted on the telecom bill are more moderate than left. Hopefully this means he is a reasonable Democrat (like Lieberman) and is starting to see reason.

Er, Lieberman is not really a democrat anymore though. He was excommunicated for his nonadherance to the non reasonable party stance.

As I asked earlier: Losing a primary is "excommunicated" or "booted from the party" ?

He had to run as an independent.

That's why we have primaries. We vote for the candidate we want to nominate. Kind of Democratic, isn't it?

He's one of the few democrats in office I would defend at this moment in time. But note, only 8 years ago he was democratic enough for Gore to make him his vice presidential choice.

Are Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Mike Huckabee, Bill Bradley, and Dick Lugar party exiles because they could not have won office under their party's flag?

It's a good thing Chuck Hagel is retiring.  I bet he'd get "excommunicated" from the GOP during the next primary in Nebraska.

I can't believe the BS that comes out of some folks.

Re: Is Obama losing his shine?

U.S. Rep. Chris Cannon, a conservative Republican who lost his primary to an opponent who accused him of not being conservative enough, said Wednesday that his defeat frees him to move on to pursue other opportunities.

Excommunication!  Oh noes!

WASHINGTON (Feb. 13, 2008) - Maryland Sen. Andy Harris' defeat of nine-term incumbent Republican Rep. Wayne Gilchrest Tuesday would seem to seal the deal for him in a district that historically votes Republican, but Democratic nominee Frank Kratovil says just wait and see.

How terribly unreasonable.

What exactly is the issue with the use of the word excommunication in the context of Lieberman?

Unreasonable!

Hes "shilling" for the current administration on one point only, and its the same reason he is for Mcain, and thats because of his support for the war.

And he similarly supported Clinton when he was waging war against Iraq, and treating Iraq as a threat. His position hasn't changed.

It's his cohorts that got all wobbly kneed and developed amnesia about what they knew prior to Bush, and all becuase they wanted to get themselves elected.

Given that Lieberman caucuses with the Democrats, excommunication is hardly the right word.
