The link above is the powersupply you need. You may be able to open it up and replace it with a more silent fan. However keep in mind opening up a power supply is very dangerous.

Um, Im not so sure u understand what I mean or if I understand what u mean. Theres nothing wrong with my current supply other than its pretty loud so buying the same thing and taking that apart isnt really part of my plan. I was more thinking of if there was some PC'ish supply that I could use that was silent. I guess though the biggest problem I have to face then is that none or few of the connectors actually fit the ones on the mobo...

I think your power supply fans are just really dirty.

Has the fan been too loud for you for the decade plus since Apple last sold it? If it has been getting louder lately the problem is most likely dust and grime.

Go to your local office supply store and purchase a can of compressed air.

Take the computer to a place that will clean up or vacuum easily. Open the computer, make short blasts of air with the canned 'air' on everything, especially the fans. Close computer, put it back where it was, clean up the mess and report back.

Thx for the tip. Ill try the air, have a can that Ive used before. I bought the computer in used condition and one of the first things I did after Id got it home was to take out almost everything from inside, including removing the sidepanels and gave it a well needed cleaning - lots of dust.

I didnt however use the can on the psu so Ill try that. Ive replaced the fan on the inside of the sidedoor with a radial fan that Ive placed in one of the free pci-slots. It works more effective and its definately less loud than the original fan. Im thinking of getting new feet to put on the underside and maybee some mats for the inside.
